From what you say you definitely do NOT have HVC, and sounds like you do not have any kind of hepatitis. You do however have some kind of bad reaction to alcohol from all your accounts.

So abstinence may be the best course for you given how you describe getting sick every time you try it. Our bodies change over time and possibly what once had no effect on you does now simply due to the effect of life on your metabolism.

That of course does not mean you need you abstain from other things that allow you to change your way of thinking and that help you feel good.

    Hi Ianning,
Some folk on this forum got cured while drinking heavily while on the medication. Other folk got cured while drinking moderately while on the medication. Others, like me, got cured while not drinking at all. We all got cured.

    Hey Panthyra,
Good to know you now have all the data required to get a script got the DAAs. A viral load measurement is a nice to have, but not a necessity.
Looking forward to hearing about your next steps.

Hey Vedruss, me too so far as the crickets go so far this summer! I can only get to sleep with ear plugs, and I’m HCV-cured so cannot blame side effects.
It’s kind of funny ‘cos with me its crickets whereas most of my friends are being kept up by the Cricket

    Hello and welcome Panthyra,
Like you I ignored my HVC for years (in my case decades). Actually, looking back it was always niggling away at the back of my mind. Now I love that when I do recall, it is with the sense of rejoicing in its now being gone.

First steps for you are to get that blood work, then seeing as how you’ve no support nearby you’ll (as Splitdog says) want to make an appointment with the doc here. For that you’ll need to know: #duck which genotype you have, and
#duck an idea of whether you have any fibrosis and if so, how bad.
If you cannot get a fibroscan, then do’t worry, the liver function blood test panel results provide a proxy for estimating fibrosis score.

Keep asking questions too, it doesn’t usually take many hours for someone to come on this forum to get an answer.

    Go well! Mnem

GAJ gave good council, his moderation maintained the right kind of tone with well-considered and cheery fairness. A real mensch.

In retrospect it is extraordinary to read his generous responses to relatively trivial concerns when he was it turns out, staring his own death in the face. Beaches and Ariel’s posts here provide glimpses of the physical GAJ behind those forum posts. His lightness and brightness of being has been a gift to all of us, let’s maintain that great spirit and clear sightedness through any kindnesses we share here.

Hello and welcome Vedruss, it is good you found your way here. I too had HVC but thanks to folk at FixHepC through whom I obtained the meds, the GT2 that was in my blood for decades has now gone baby gone. Now I will looking forward to hearing more from you as you step through your treatment. Best wishes, Mnem

    Hello again Smp123,
About taking the meds: It’s really up to you to decide when. The big thing is to take them at the same time every day; and to take them every day. Do not miss a beat. If you forget a dose then take it soon as possible.

 My own system involved every morning without fail, waking then taking.

As back up I kept a stash in the bag I take out with me each morning. That way I always had the meds to hand if needed. So if you #duck #duck #duck #duck #duck #duck #duck #duck you will always remember to remember to take the drugs

    Hello Smp123,
It’s great to have you on the forum. To check for interactions this is the best online tool:

    Go well, Mnem

    Hey SHarmon,
    Welcome to the forum.

Once you know if you are HCV antigen positive, and if so, what type of HCV, then you’ll be in a position to find the best treatment for your own situation.

You can then go to the interactions checker:
    http://www.hep-druginteractions.org/checker
To use this online tool one first enters the HVC drug regimen. Next one adds the other pharmaceutical or vitamin, mineral etc., you need to check interactions for. This is a great online tool. Great for doctors as well as us civilians.

Best wishes for your next steps, Mnem

Hey Nitro, Here is my message of congratulations to you – all the way from a small sheep-herding country at the bottom of the world. I am thrilled to hear that you’re already feeling the benefit from the meds despite being less on them than a week so far.

It’s energising to read your analysis of your country’s medical neglect of so many of its HVC+ve citizens. The American way of doing medicine provides some of the best treatments in the western world, and some of the worst cases of medical neglect too. For the average US citizen the current system is far from ideal, so it’s especially sweet to see an American getting treated through generics.

    Keep on taking those pills!
