And we should not forget Donald Rumsfeld who was Chairman of Gilead from
1997 to 2001 before becoming Defense Secretary. At that time, he purportedly

that decision…guilt by association, I would say. He was smart but not a humanitarian.

    Here’s my personal experience with Tim;

I first encountered Tim last year after reading a post on Fierce Pharma, which
is a decent industry newsletter. We chatted and he tried his best to help me at
    the time.

Time went by and we eventually, independently ran into FixHepC.

Tim just sent me an email inquiring about my health and regarding his involvement
with the Redemption trials, not knowing that I am on the yellow brick road to
    recovery.

Publicly, I would like to thank Tim for his help in the past and keep up the good work
he is doing now. Tim is good people.

L….congrats on your results. In my experience in the last 20 years, established labs, like
Lab Corp and Sonora Quest suck here in AZ. They rip you off of your hard earned dollars.

A new player, Theranos, came into town last year. They are based out of California. They
did offer finger pricks that could analyze most common blood tests. Unfortunately, the FDA
has temporarily suspended the thimble sized blood sample tests due to purported in house
irregularities. Their blood work costs are cheap. As an example, HCV RNA quantitative costs
$ 29, CMP costs $ 7, and on and on. Their prices are outstanding.

Theranos labs are currently in Cal, AZ, and PA. They still draw blood the old fashion way.
I do not know about Colorado, but in AZ one does not need a doctor’s permission to get
lab work done. You are going in the right direction with the university if cost is an issue.
The personnel at hospital teaching universities are more compassionate and open than
the high and mighty doctors who graduate from these universities.

A lot of people here can read lab results and answer most questions. If you want to go the
DIY route, ask away. Good luck and keep us posted…..e.

M…good article. As the article states more data in the elderly is needed. What I find interesting
is that most of the adverse events listed in the table are normal in the aging process. These tested
patients did not experience these symptoms before tx?….which is odd considering the average age
of the patients were 72.6 years old. I must be misreading or misinterpreting the article because
after 5 weeks, I have found myself exhibiting fatigue, irritability, and short-temperedness.

The fatigue I had before tx which I am cognizant of…..pre-diabetic probably. The irritability and
short temper not only bothers me, but it also bothers the people with whom I’m with. Even-
    tempered is my nature.

What is also interesting in the article is that 86% of the patients had fibrosis scores of 3 or higher.
I guess there will be more studies in the future with age brackets and different stages of fibrosis, etc.
I sometimes forget, we (everyone on this site) and people taking original Harvoni, Viekira, etc are
on the front lines of this disease. A lot of more research and testing is bound to be had. And as
others have said, we are more than happy to be the guinea pigs….e.

I have no symptoms i.e. headaches etc. and feel well since finishing treatment.

BP usually does not exhibit any symptoms

I have stopped using the BP monitor because it stresses me out.

as Gaj has said….stress is a biggie for high BP. Put the monitor away or
use it mostly for data info, knowing its limitations.

    AMAZING POTENT STUFF!

Regarding alcohol intake....my choice of poison is bourbon. The stuff
is called Bookers. It is 130 proof and potent. I quit Bookers before tx,
but continued w/beer.....IPA beer. I had one beer 8 times, two beers
5 times and did not drink one day. They were imbibed 12 hours after
taking the sof/led. The beers did not disturb my sleep which is key for me.

As a frame of reference, my normal pre tx intake were (2) Bookers and
    (2) IPA's spread over 2 hours most of the time almost every day. I'm
surprised my liver was not more compromised. I think what saved me
was my vegetarian diet of 40 years, lots of H2O, and sleep.

I might have to revisit Dr F's "living on the edge" frame of mind again-
see pg 10 of this thread. I don't want to be "taking up too much space".

Anyhow, as tx continues, I know myself. I probably will step out of this
comfort zone and do some stupid stuff. I'm not young anymore. One
has to enjoy life that gives you a rush, IMO. I have 4 more cat's lives left.
The "rocking chair" life style is not for me.

Ditto to everything Mike just said. I have cancelled more posts than what has been submitted.
Sometimes one needs to wait an hour or even the next day to submit a post, especially an emotional
one. Think about the reaction and consequences. If one does not care, then do it.

Regarding firearms…..I live in the wild west. Enough said. My internet third sense is tingling now. This
subject is like politics and religion. My main complaint is weaponry that can hold many rounds with rapid
fire trigger settings…..unnecessary for the public IMO. I have friends who agree with my opinion. As a
matter of fact, they are hunters who hunt with bow and arrow. Now, that is challenging.
