    @stew-h

Week 3 has arrived – so far – so good.
I stopped taking Nexium after the 1st week as I was diagnosed with bile reflux – not acid reflux so my GP put me on Ursodeoxycholic acid – for the treatment of bile reflux gastritis. It seems to be working except I still wake around 2am with fevers, burning sensations, sweats and heart palpitation. My GP is not sure whether its due to bile reflux, hep C or ulcerative colitis. My GP suggested increasing the Ursodeoxycholic acid to see if it helps any.
Off to the liver clinic tomorrow for my first visit since starting treatment.

Starting my 3rd week on generic harvoni.
No major side effects although my bile reflux became worst upon starting the harvoni. This was remedied by using Urosan.
I don’t feel any better since using Harvoni but that’s to be expected as its not supposed to make you feel better. Its job is to destroy the virus – liver damage will remain the same – there’s no cure for cirrhosis

But what happens if Labor win the next election , are the Liberals PBS promises binding?
    OR
If the economy takes a dive there may be caveats on who gets what when. Harvoni maybe only available to those who are very sick and may need another liver.
It could be a year before the average Joe gets Harvoni via the PBS system, so thank goodness for the generic versions available.

If you’re Geno 1a Sof +Led has the best cure rate with Sof + Dac more of a generalised treatment irrespective of reflux problems
Its advised to take only 20mg of nexium on an empty stomach at the same time you take Ledipasvir if you have acid reflux.
I myself have stopped taking nexium as I have now been diagnosed with bile reflux mistaken as acid reflux and take Ursofalk
No more vomiting in pain for hours on end and 24 hr nausea
I still wake up after approx. 4hrs sleep evey night with fevers , pain and nausea, my mouth full of bile

I think the problem mainly deals with those who take Ledipasvir – so you should be ok taking nexium.

I go to the Liver clinic at Nepean Hospital which is just around the corner from Kingswood pharmacy. When I picked up my generic Harvoni the pharmacist told me he was doing more business from overseas clients than locals. I think I maybe 1 of a few who go to the clinic that purchased meds from the pharmacy. The Liver clinic never told me about the pharmacy even tho they had a couple of people on their books who bought generic harvoni. All they wanted was for me to use Interferon, Ribavirin and Boceprevir. When I refused they said if I was prepared to wait, orals may become available some time in the future.
When my cirrhosis became worst I decided to check out a guy – Greg Jeffreys – who went to India to purchase orals. It was just by chance I came across his story or I would still be sitting at home waiting for orals from the liver clinic.

Just wondering why you didn’t go Harvoni – Sofosbuvir – Ledipasvir from Kingswood?
Thought Sof – Dac was for Geno 3

I was told I could take Nexium as long as I took it at the same time as I took the generic Harvoni. I was advised not to take Ursodeoxycholic Acid if possible as interaction is unknown, however my bile reflux is at a stage where it comes 1st in order of treatment.
I’ll probably have bloods done after my 2nd week to see if the generic harvoni is working and if I need to drop the nexium which I maybe able to do as its only good for acid reflux – not so much my main problem – bile reflux.

Proton-pump inhibitor doses comparable to omeprazole 20 mg or lower can be administered simultaneously with HARVONI under fasted conditions – Gilead

    Thankyou!
I have been on Sofosbuvir and Ledipasvir – 2 tablets – for a week now and have noticed no side effects except that my bile reflux has become a lot worst. I have been taking Nexium with the Harvoni and have to take Ursofalk – Ursodeoxychloic acid – twice a day to help with the bile reflux..
It seems to be working to some degree – just don’t know how it will affect the potency of the Harvoni – if at all
I still feel very fatigued and wake during the night with burning sensations, heart palpitations and abdomen pain. I would be lucky to get 4 hours sleep a night.
