I agree with everything you wrote. When it comes to progression each person is different. The ten years was taking from a few websites produced various studies. It is just a “about” number the professionals came up with I would think from the studies.

    Genotype 1A
    ALT 473
    AST 226
    Virus Load 3,119,030
    Results as of May-2016
    5 week viral load/undetected as of 12/02/2016
Liver Biopsy Results from Feb 2013
Portal/Periportal chronic inflammation and mild interface hepatitis (Grade 2)
Focal Lobular chronic inflammation (Grade 1)
Portal/Periportal fibrosis (stage 1-2 trichrome and reticulin stains utilized)
    Negative Iron stains.

It takes about 10 years or more to progress a another grade f you don’t drink etc. I wouldn’t take stock in the results. Maybe get another oe if you can every few months or whatever the insurance allows for piece of mind or try it with another doctor. I think resluts may depend on the doctor or technician doing the test. ESPECIALLY in a biopsy.

I had a biopsy done twice. I had to ask the doctor both times if the needle was in yet and “when are you going to take a piece of the liver”. He said I already did, I’m done”. I hear some feel pain but it it less then a milli second
Some have pain afterwards if you can call it that. It is a “uncomfortableness” for a bit in the shoulder area. I had that. It was annoying but very bearable. They call it viscerosmatic pain as it’s felt in the shoulder rather then where you would expect. Basically another area of the body feels the brunt. Even gallbladder pain can be felt in the shoulder.
I had untrasound guided biopsies done so pretty much no chance of missing. Still the BEST way to go. Not a must though but for piece of mind and seeing if waiting another year or two to save money etc it may be worth it.
I will post results of my last one 2011 one soon.

Fibroscan does one thing good. It can usually distinguishing hepatic cirrhosis from non-cirrhosis. It measures liver stiffness. Some will do the fibrosure test(serum marker tests) but it’s considered experimental and investigational for detecting or monitoring hepatic fibrosis in persons with hepatitis c.
A friend had a Fibroscan which showed definite cirrhosis (F4). The FibroTest 3 months later came in at 0.54, or F2.
Biopsy is a best bet. IT DOES NOT HURT.

Can’t disagree more. Research fibroscan and see the percentage of accuracy compared to biopsy.

This oil is 90% saturated fat so be careful. Only about half of coconut oil’s saturated fat is lauric acid, a medium-chain triglyceride. People can more easily digest medium-chain triglycerides and convert them to energy. That said, because it’s so high in saturated fat, even the purest, most natural coconut oil could be problematic.
Coconut oil isn’t as healthful as vegetable oils like olive oil and soybean oil, which are mainly unsaturated fat and therefore both lower LDL and increase HDL.
I wouldn’t go to a website the promotes or sells the stuff. You only hear good things not the bad. There are numerous studies about olive oils benefits but so far coconut oil consisted of short-term studies to examine its effect on cholesterol levels. We don’t really know how coconut oil affects on say like heart disease. Saturated fat the liver does not like.
Good to cook with once in a while he boiling or smoke point of olive oil isn’t as high as coconut oil though. So I wouldn’t recommend olive oil for frying. Most olive oils in particular extra virgin / cold pressed are only good for salads or low heat cooking.

I agree. Many supplement don’t even get absorbed like milk thistle. Even the most absorbable kind is minimal. If your decomp cirrhosis or have cirrohis I agree you absorption rate declines. Even getting nutrition from food. Most everyone else should be OK.

Evidence is a bit confusing at this time (preliminary evidence showing amazing promise and the one controlled study failing to replicate it, but more research being needed to confirm) betaine may have a role in treating fatty liver and actually improving the fibrotic state of the liver when taken at very high (20g) dosages daily.
Just because a study shows something works you need to look at the others that say it’s crap. A study done in a petri dish or animals doesn’t mean it will work in humans.
But, with that said due to S-Adenosylmethionine methyl donor properties, SAMe may have a role as adjunct therapy for Hepatitis C.

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20854821
Just want to show for example this result: S-Adenosylmethionine , in conjunction with standard therapy and at 1200mg daily, is able to increase the amount of subjects achieving an SVR in reponse to hepatitis treatment.
BUT, with that said the study was “Uncontrolled or observational only”.
I could go on and on. NOBODY should be taking supplements on treatment. Maybe a multi-vitamin mineral supplement with 100% of the RDA but always check with your doctor.
Most can and should take vitamin D3 even on treatment. B12 should be safe. You can get injectable B12

If you go with royal mail that the other person suggested here is info from there website about drugs.
    Pharmaceutical products

General. Adulterated or misbranded foods, drugs, diagnostic or therapeutic devices, cosmetics, articles containing them, or any new drug for which no approved application is in effect, which are subject to the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act of 25 June 1938, as amended, and in violation of section 801 of that Act.

I think unless you have a valid prescription they may confiscate or return to sender maybe. Or it might make it through.
