    Definitely, hear you on that.

What’s the point of helping one sick population merely to potentially endanger others?

My best friend has terminal metastasised kidney cancer, he needs fortnightly blood tests just before chemo and more extensive bloodwork every 6 months. If he’s gonna be up to pay for them, it will be difficult.

    Very likely, mate :)

Its hard to conceive that these have gotta be hard-hitting drugs, but there is so little evidence – except the bad numbers dropping :P

Most people have a hard time finding much (if any) indication you’re taking anything during tx. Keep up the hydration and you’ll cut the risk of headaches. For me, I couldn’t say there was any at all (until I had other health issues which have complicated matters a bit lol)

It won’t be long, kiwi (thoughI know it seems like it takes a few years lol)

Definitely you can’t wait for Pharmac to move on the new meds, good on you for seeking Dr James out.

You will be on the road to UND, as so many of us have travelled before you. All the best :)

    Great stuff, Leoshi! :)

It should be smooth sailing all the way…awesome to have another US brother on board here, out of the grasp of grasping Gilead.

Next, look forward to your EOT UND :+1:

Welp, yesterday was finally EOT day, 12 weeks done and dusted :)

    (6am photo for posterity lol)

    sofdaclastday.jpg

One week to find out if UND has stuck (which I have no reason to think it hasn’t, recent liver pain aside!) Though I reckon I may have the answer for the crushing exhaustion I’ve had lately.

Alas I spent most of the day in the ER, again /facepalm (really need one of those emoticons lol) 3rd time in as many weeks

Still dehydrated after more than 2 litres of water pre blood-test that morning (running out of places to stick cannulas at this point lol) and so lightheaded I didn’t think I could make it back home under my own steam. I’ve been feeling worse and worse over the last 5 days or so, fatigue/weakness/brain fog which put anything I experienced with Hep c to shame heh. So, guess its not surprising that the docs have come round to the conclusion that I’m amongst the 25% of post-op thyroid patients whose remaining one doesn’t look like its gonna kick back in properly. Well that would explain a few things lol

On the way up to the hospital, I was trudging so bad a white-haired elderly couple passed me

And just when I’d turned my alarm off from sof/dac daily 6am dosing…on it goes again for thyroxine :P

    Thanks Mike :)

I’m about 2 decades off 65 heh but due to such individual reactions nothing can be discounted re tx side effects imo. I’d been putting the whole pain/discomfort out of my head for the most part, but this morning after a bit of a sore night I’m kinda ashamed to say I cracked lol and got onto the clinc nurse. She said that just because I was getting increasing liver pain symptoms and tiredness was no reason to think the meds weren’t kicking along as usual and not to be concerned. Logically there’s only the slimmest chance of that not being the case, I know. That said, the test results due to get in next week will be impatiently awaited, that’s for sure!

Great piece of reporting, compassionate and detailed.

Absolutely with you Sir, here’s hoping the NZ legislators see the need to really get on this as a matter of urgency, considering what Aust has accomplished.
