    Hi,

Prior to Harvoni was Treatment Naive.
    Fibrosis 1-2 SVR 12

I am new here, I took Harvoni over the summer, had some cardiac issues, extremely high bp ended up
having to wear a heart monitor, just had to add more high blood pressure meds (had high bp prior to Harvoni)
I survived that, had a short amount of time that i lost some hair, and then toward the end of tx I was very fatigued.

I stopped Harvoni in Sept and the joint pains that started mid tx have finally started to subside. The fatigue is subsiding,
however I have developed a horrible itchy rash all over my body. Tried some topical steroid cremes but, didnt work. I tried
epsom salt baths, and recently started acupuncture, my acupuncture says its my Liver detoxing. Today, it was so bad I went
to the ER and they gave me Atarax and Steroid pills (i dont want to take them). I am wondering, has anyone else here had
any type of rash post Harvoni? With the Hep C I did get a similar but, very minimal rash that always responded to Clobetasol. Not this time. One thought, the Hep C is gone, however I do not feel any different aside from mostly all of the Liver Pains stopped.

Any input would be greatly appreciated !! :D

    Hi,
I am happy you are cured!!
But, you are well ahead of most, if not all, of us here. I was one of the earlier ones to treat, and I finished in mid January.
How is your skin in general? Sensitive? Dry? I had some eczema issues during tx, but have had that before. It’s mild and clears quickly with treatment. I’m no doctor, but I can’t see how the Harvoni could be causing your rash. There are a lot of people on HepMag forums that finished well before you. You could probably get some good advice and insight there.
    Again, congratulations!
    Mike

Hair loss in men is usually related to hair loss in general if your Grandfather on your Mums
side had hair loss the chances are you’ll also follow suit if your hair loss follows a pattern then
its nothing to do with the treatment.

In terms of rash’s, I’ve heard of some people having reactions while on treatment, I’m of
the opinion its possible its again not do to with the medication or you liver-skin conditions can
flare up for any number of reasons.

yeh i got (am still getting) funny little pimples that really hurt and heal very slow, plus a pimply eczema thing down the middle of face, but they sound mild comp to yours and are manageable with eczema cream. I was also very achey on meds. I was on Sub’ and Dac’ which I finished mid Desember 15

Also after interferon a decade ago I got skin probs that never went away either.

Diagnosed in the early 90’s, geno 3, had Interferon 2006, currently on Sofosbuvir & Daclatasvir

NO VIRUS @ 4 WEEKS of Sofosbuvir & C Daclatasvir

Still free – SVR4 and at 8 weeks too

Still free at 7 months, CURED!!

There are many many many causes of rash. One that does have an association with HCV is cryoglobulinaemia

    http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/329255-overview

The rash can look like lots of things but here are lots of examples…

    https://www.google.com.au/search?q=cryoglobulinemia+rash&source=lnms&tbm=isch

There will be a cause, we should find it, and if possible fix it.

Steroids for rashes can be like killing a spider with a shotgun – it may well work but it’s not the best tool for the job and there will be collateral damage.

    YMMV

Hi Friend ;) I agree with whats been shared here — also if its of any use aduki beans and mung beans are both excellent for skin rashes itchiness on skin– in traditional chinese medicine they are used as part of ones diet to alleveiate heat symptoms in the skin as well as detoc for bllod and liver issues.

Mung beans help to clear body heat, reduce skin inflammation and detox the body

someone recommended that i try making soups /stews with them — so i tried !

i found them both good fro riba itch and rash whilst on a prevoius combo trearment this was my own experince- they alleviated the itchiness and minimised some of the symptoms

a bag of aduki beans and mung beans cost less than a dollar from any good health store chines supermarket :)

Off Topic. Bob, I read your initial post in introductions whats your fiber scan score you
mentioned you’re a F0-F1 is that the case or did you make a mistake.

I’m curious how a F0 would get in the treatment pool in Ireland I was F3 and refused was
advised you have to be F4 Min score of 12.

hi Sir, I am going to the hospital tomorrow – I will check up on the fibroscan results as far as i remember (yr ago!) it was what i mentioned -Their reason for treating was based on several issues varices-swollen spleen – longterm elevated lfts- I will get this clarified when I am face to face with my consultant tomorrow

also am not trying to promote any one or anything here contrary to what others might be thinking… what i share was freely given from my own experience something that helped me ;)

I had bad skin rashes when I did the 2 rounds of interferon I went and saw a skin specialist and was given creams that didn’t work then I did a bit of googling and found vinegar in baths helped clear it up ,I still have a couple of small spots that wont go away but I’m hoping they will after treatment

…..found vinegar in baths helped clear it up

That’s interesting. I’m most itchy just after a shower and realising that even the mildest soaps and cleansers tend to be alkaline I try to limit their use which does help but hygiene must prevail of course. ;)

I will experiment with a diluted vinegar wash down after using the soap and see if that helps.

hiya :) Sir re off topic question you asked about….___ just back from weekly hospital appt with consultant— yes my mistake i am F10 quite a difference !! havent really been checking test results over the last year as i felt so well !!? platelets at beginning of treatment are 44,000 so over last 3 years they have reduced from 90,000 to 40,000.. viral load has been in the 6 million range for last 7 years -no spikes or lows at all . They took bloods today so will see what they look like nxt week when i go up again– feelin pretty rough with a horrendous sore throat /infection am on augmentin 500mg for that -really dont want it to get into my lungs and gain a strong foot hold .
hope your day is good my friend ;)
