Hello!! This is my first post although I have been following many of you for a few weeks now. I am about to start my treatment tonight (yay!) and you have all been so generous with your stories so here is the start of mine.
I am Genotype 1a and F2-3. We think I contracted HepC working in a medical environment more than 30 years ago but really where it started doesn't matter anymore, it's about finishing it.
A friend sent me a newspaper cutting about 4 weeks ago. 2 days later I had a consultation with the wonderful Dr Freeman, the Buyers Club performed their magic and the goods arrived 3 weeks later.
I don't need to tell you all what this means to me. Ready to put up with any side effects.....Bring it on.....
G1a probably early 1980's, Biopsy F1(2010), F2-F3(2015). VL 5+mill; 2+mill (2014) Tx naive. Accessed Sof/Led through Dr Freeman at GP2U and Buyers Club (lifesavers!!!)
Commenced tx 12/11/15. 9 wk: VL <15 Detected but LFT = Normal 12 week results: UND (Yay!) Due to slow response commenced Sof/Dac 4 Feb for 12 weeks. EOT @ 24 weeks 27 April 2016. (With thanks to Dr Freeman et al). SVR11 result: VL 1,950,000. It's back!

Hi Cindi,

Thanks for the good wishes. I have Sofosbuvir and Ledipasvir which I understand is recommended for my genotype. I've read the advice that taking them in the evening might be better so will try it this way first. Any slight trepidation is completely outweighed by the need to get rid of this thing!

Thanks! I have been following your posts and see that you are well on your way. which is great. Only two days in for me so early days but all good so far. Now that I've started it's hard to be patient....but I guess after 30 years I can wait a bit longer....Coral

Hi Coral I am third day in with my meds. Waking up around 4.30am-5.00am the last couple of mornings and extremely tired today but other than that no side effects really. I have had tinnitus for around 35 years and that seems to be a bit worse but when I am stressed/and or over tired it gets bad so am putting it down to that......I actually feel unusually calm today....probably because I have taken the leap toward getting rid of this horrid virus. If this is the worst the side effects get I will be a happy woman, albeit I hope the insomnia goes away...I'm back to work next week (working for 4 Lawyers) so need my wits about me......

Looking forward to hearing your progress :)

Hi Lynne

The early waking seems to be my most obvious side effect. It's like when you wake you're awake. However, I'm now understanding that if I allow myself to chill for a while I can get back to sleep after a while. I've been averaging 6 hours of broken sleep since starting tx. Em

Hi Em Have you found that the early waking is easing off at all...I sure hope I don't have it for 3 months..... :( However in saying that it is a small price to pay......

Hi Lynne,

I am at Day 4 and friends have been tentatively asking me how I feel and like you I actually I feel fine so far. I had been travelling before I started taking the meds so my sleeping was a bit erratic due to jetlag. I have been waking up very early and now I'm thinking it might be the meds instead of the jetlag! I agree it is a small price to pay for a long term outcome.

Take care of you - we'll be one week down before we know it.

Hi Lynne, yes it has eased off somewhat, particularly now I've learned that the awake-fullness (like someone flicking on a switch), doesn't necessarily mean that you're not tired. I also was having power naps after work but don't need to do this now that I'm getting into a better pattern. Also I find that if you do get a straight 7 or 8 hours, you become really foggy when you do wake. Which generally subsides once you get going. All in all you will find that you have lots more energy and it's about learning to deal with that energy to not hit a wall. Em

Hi Coral, im on m 8th day of daclatasvir and sofosbuvir I went to Australia to obtain, and personally carried back to US (I was ready to brawl if they tried to take them away from me, but my passage through customs turned out to be totally uneventful other than the ridiculous mile long line that took 3 hours). While in Aus I also had the pleasure of meeting Emilio who is as great a guy in person as he is on here. Anyway, the first morning after first pills my eyes popped open like the light switch was turned on. the next few days have been somewhat similar, when i wake up, Im AWAKE. Which to me all in all is a good thing, because before I was always tired and it was s struggle to get awake and out of the bed, so this is better for me personally. Other than that, I have noticed nothing different, other than the dull abdominal pain and bloat feeling I used to often get hasn't been around since I started. I've had this since, 1985 or so, GT 2B, last told I was F2 and have always had a weirdly low viral load, in the 100,00 to 200,000 range. My liver tests have been elevated but generally no more than 30 points above the high limit. Anyway, good luck, I think you'll be fine with side effects, they don't seem to be significant at least from my experience
GT 2b; since 80's, no prior tx, sofosbuvir and daclatasvir compounded from API's at Kingswood Pharmacy in Sydney, started tx nov 6,2015, undetected at 4 wks, UND at 8 weeks, UND at 1 week after EOT, UND at 4 weeks after EOT and UND at 8 weeks after EOT. " I feel GOOD!! I knew that I WOULD!"
