Having a tough time
My Daughter is safe but it’s been more than 24 hours now since I have spoken to her in the Nadi area of Fiji
If you didn’t know the largest storm on record in the Southern Hemisphere hit Fiji full force during last night
I’m pretty exhausted
I managed to postpone her flights today until safe.
She has been helping at an orphanage then this suddenly came
This is not about hepc sorry
Its just to say gimme a hug
I kinda need one
Will be okay when I get to hear her voice and this beast has buggered off and no threat it is still a category 5 and just sitting west of fiji now
I dunno when I will get a decent nights sleep because I am alone here and watching this thing praying it will p off and not do another u turnBut I long to talk to her and the entire country is in lock down
I guess this qualifies for a
Apart ftom this I send all love and will catch up with your updates asap my life here settles a bit with this going onAttachments:21 February 2016 at 11:41 pm #12395What a worry for you Ariel,
I do hope all is well.
When it comes to daughters, nothing can tug at your heartstrings more.
Still, she’s not alone and probably holed up somewhere safe but maybe some communucations are down due to storm.
Sending BIG love
Let us know when you hear all is well

Sending you a virtual hug ((( )))
As a mum of course you will be very worried until you speak to her again. I know where you are coming from and as a mum myself I feel for you. I’m sure will be fine and as LG says communications may be down.
Lots of love, debs xxxx22 February 2016 at 4:09 am #12405Thinking of you Ariel, yes as Mums we can relate to that level of anxiety. Wishing her a big bubble of protection and sending you big warm hugs, take care

GGT 50H22 February 2016 at 11:59 am #12433Thanks Debs, LG, chejai and friends, had contact today yes! Bit exhausted right now, but want to let you know the sx issue I had was myy BP it zoomed up to 180/130, I didn’t want to write it up until it was sorted…that all happened last Wednesday thanks to Dr James for assisting me thanks to Pat1 for your behind the scenes support, to LG and to my GP here. My BP is 127/70 now today, and I am on double bp meds…lucky huh because with the drama in Fiji woah good to have found that before that unfolded and I had no idea of this forthcoming. I haven’t slept for two nights because of it of course, tracking the thing. I still need to locate my adopted orphan daughter over there she will be fine she is 24 she is not stupid. It is a matter of the signal only one cell tower is active for the entire Viti Levu. I urge anyone who has a few bucks to chuck it towards this beautiful nation.
It is absolutely horrific the devastation, this is the biggest storm the Southern hemisphere has ever seen. It is currently sitting West of Fiji still so I am just willing the bugger to basically bugger off still. It is a cat 4 at mo.My Alt and AST are fantastic…just waiting on a better more accurate VL PCR RNA result to come in now. Had it taken last Wednesday. ALT 18

Yeah we may feel a bit off colour, a tad upset about the state of our bodies…BUT we are in good hands here and we will get better, these meds are rippers at slaying dragons, no sparkly unicorn rainbow cards needed.
I know I have had a whine about my nearest Public hospital, but hell this puts it into perspective. here is the video of the Hosptial In Lautoka< warning, it will rip your heart out. I think I will get my VL in tomoz...crossing my fingers and toes, flippers and fins, and I aam forcing myself to go for a wave this weekend. This event has given me a right old kick up the proverbial, well a prod with neptunes fork into action.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsJ0AVL2iH023 February 2016 at 12:10 pm #12510crossing flippers and finns
Good luck with your VL result

24 February 2016 at 5:33 am #12558Ariel, so glad you were able to make contact with your daughter, hope she continues to be safe and well – wishing the same for all those there in Fiji devastated by this. It’s hard to get my head around “winds @ 230 km/p/h and gusts as strong as 325 km/p/h”!
A reminder of Cyclone Pam destroying Vanuatu last year – it’s always so heartbreaking, especially how isolated they become with no power lines and mobile towers, weather too wild to access by water or flight.I’m always relieved but surprised how low the death toll is in the wake of such extraordinary devastation. So, I’ve been reading why and apparently it’s to do with the way the natives construct their huts and the materials they use. They have been living with cyclones forever, using lightweight things like bamboo and pandanus, woven together – not using nails and heavy masonry and not creating heavy pressure within because they’re porous. So, it’s the building materials in places hit by cyclones that cause the most damage and injury to people!
Also, apparently another big ‘saviour’ was SMS alerts, almost everyone has a mobile there and it proved to be the one thing to alert people to prepare themselves! That’s awesomeAnyway Ariel, hope you’re feeling better and getting a chance to get those results you’re waiting for.
Sending you hugs and
