Nice story of American Bigsby going to India – with a nice photo of Greg Jefferys.

10 June 2016 at 6:44 pm #18825Thank you for posting, Joy.
How unfortunate it is that the journalist who wrote the article deliberately chose to end it with a poorly spoken, and misleading quote which tends to cast all Americans as ‘greedy’. This was completely unnecessary. A terrible shame really, because the message contained in the remainder of the article is what is really important.
What is true of Americans is that most of us hate the way the government here took away our private heath insurance option, and shoved a big pharma backed, quasi-public scheme down our throats, which at the end of the day costs significantly more, rations care in a way it has never been rationed before in the US, and comes with a crippling yearly copay (usually $5,000 to $7,000 before insurance actually picks up) that discourages all but the wealthiest to seek timely care.
Since 2013 our American healthcare system has been transformed into something that few of us recognize, and even fewer support. Big pharma on the other hand has been allowed and encouraged by our “progessive” administration to shove exorbitantly high priced pharmaceuticals right up our arses.
The profiteer who purchased an HIV drug which sold for $9 a pill and raised the price to $750 is a prime example. He is universally despised by Americans. We hate his guts.
Americans – those of us who are forced live under the yolk of greedy pharmaceutical companies, under duress – at our own expense, and at the expense of our fellow citizens, are furious!
Americans, aren’t greedy, but we are angry, really angry. We’re fed up, and we’re tired of our government assisting and enabling Big Pharma to pick our pockets, and raid our bank accounts at will.

10 June 2016 at 7:57 pm #18829Hey fitz! Dial it back a bit bro’
As a fellow American, I CAN ASSURE YOU, that Joy, nor anyone else I’ve seen posting on this site feels that, “all Americans are greedy and opportunistic.” as you put it. To the contrary I’ve been made to feel very welcome to this “internationally” supportive site, as have you, I’m sure One thing we ALL have in common is this disease and the appreciation for freedom of thought and expression here. I’ve been educated, amused and inspired by many here, including YOU. If you read most press releases posted here or anywhere else you’ll no doubt be able to find parts of it that you don’t completely agree with. That doesn’t negate the dissemination of the good news they all contain. I respect your right to feel the way you do about what you deem to be “biased journalism” and to even express it hear, but please don’t shoot the messenger. That I can’t agree with. Joy, after all didn’t write the article, and you did say it was a great story, right? Just that last little bit really hit a nerve in you, but don’t let that cause you to paint with such a “broad brush” this post or this site, please my friend

I believe the word ” Americans” in this particular context relates to the
American Pharmaceutical Companies, IMO.

SVR2410 June 2016 at 8:44 pm #18833I see your point fitz and don’t doubt your sincerity in wanting to see this site put its best foot forward, so to speak, to Americans visiting it for help. I too want ALL visitors here to feel as welcome as I feel. However, a pm to Joy may be warranted here rather than, and yes I say again, insinuating that she has ill intentions, specifically toward Americans. It doesn’t matter where you live, rich country, (like USA) or poor country. If access to these life saving meds are out of reach then you get really sick and die. I tend to lean toward giving one the benefit of the doubt in this case and if you think I’m wrong about doing so with Joy, may I suggest you pm her and ask her if that was indeed her intent. If it is, report it to the moderator. But if it was not and if she agrees it can be misconstrued. Then, ask if she’d be willing to edit that part out.
Peace Bro,
MK
P.S. While I was typing I see there have been replies posted. Good for all around. Nice going guys I think though Joy you might reconsider the particular wording in question as a quote for the 1st post as we 2 ugly Americans have suggested. It can be easily misconstrued

7/07/16 UND SVR 2410 June 2016 at 9:44 pm #18840Absolutely correct, the person who was the subject of the article CLEARLY meant International Big Pharma. The journalist who wrote the article clearly had a responsibility to clarify that, and did not.
To the casual reader it is as clear as mud. The journalist’s use of ‘Americans’ as a foil to drive home her point was a deplorable misuse of language, and comes across as a cheap shot. If I were her editor, the story would absolutely have been published, but that particular bit of journalistic nonsense would never have seen the light of day.

I made no insinuations as to Joy’s intentions, and I made that clear in my last post. It is also not my way to not publicly correct the record, on a public matter as important as this one.
Americans are coming here, today, seeking help from in response to notices placed across the entire nation. Once again, I emphasize, our purpose here should be to welcome all who need treatment, and to alienate no one.
I was wondering how you were going to respond. We are guests here like the rest of the world, except for Australia
(our host). Have you or do you currently work in the political field

11 June 2016 at 3:08 am #18859Point taken Fitz, I have removed Bigsby’s quote, which I believe was an off-hand comment on Big Pharma and the American system rather than the American people. I did not intend to offend or alienate anybody, everybody is welcome here. Credit to you for informing other Americans about this site and the way out of Hep C misery.
My gripe is with Gilead’s obscene profiteering and how they get away with it. An American company squeezing the life out of Americans. Yet from reading hundreds of comments on articles relating to DAAs I’ve been surprised at the number of Americans (without Hep C I assume) who believe Gilead’s pricing strategy is justified, and that to impose controls would deter further investment in research and development. I guess that’s all part of their marketing strategy.
There is a middle path…
11 June 2016 at 3:42 am #18862Hey guys…I am seeing a dispute here that does not exist!
Joy merely posted an article about Greg Jeffrey’s that amazingly got a CNN article. Kudos to CNN!
Fitz is criticizing our fucked up healthcare system! It’s true, American business has become a ruthless, greedy enterprise. Thank God our customs service is allowing importation of personal medications up to a 3 month supply. American people are great, our corrupt government is a POS. I believe that is Fitz’s criticism, our government sucks, which it does.
If you have an RX there is no need to go to India, contact http://www.GP2U.com for an RX.
Joy was great to post it, Fitz is defending the American spirit, and so is Matt.
Now you all kiss and make up and rock on towards your cure!

Please, don’t believe for a moment that the average American thinks that the extortionate sum of $94,000 is a fair price, or that waiting until one is suffering from cirrhosis, of actually dying of Hep C is an appropriate point to begin treatment.
Rank and file Americans don’t write those articles, news outlets do.
Unfortunately US news outlets are bought and paid for by Big Pharma, which advertises 24/7, without which advertisement revenue, US corporate news outlets would have to do the hard work of real news gathering, rather than re-broadcasting and printing the same thing every other news outlet in the US is picking up for next to nothing, and rebroadcasting.
The CNN article no doubt got through as written, with its warts and blemishes, and without the usual corporate censorship, because news outlets are padding their bank accounts by not paying for editorial oversight.
11 June 2016 at 7:08 am #18882You’re right GF – kiss kiss and kiss to all of you.
Dear Fitz – I was referring to the comments, not the articles. I assume comments are mostly written by real people?
