Hi Guys
Thank for your good wishes. Hope everbody is doing goodI have quick question. My last blood test showed me my fasting blood glucose is 103mg.It s more than 99mg . called latent diabets. I am 35 year old . I have no diabetic in my family. The thing is before, results are lover than 99mg and I dont use sugar in drinks and I dont eat sugar sweet much. When I reached to SVR4 first time I saw it is higher than 99mg and it was 113mg , I though I ate something which are make my glucose high and I did not take it serious but last month I realized my fasting blood glucose is 103.
I have no problem before start to treatment and I used not much sweet thing in my life . weird ?
Is it possible to fix it ? Or what should I do ?
Maybe side effect of treatment? Possible? Before start to treatment all was good about glucose but after treatment this happened.
Cheers.27 October 2018 at 2:16 pm #28641Hello Kaju,
It does sound as though you have borderline diabetes. Patients with Hep C get diabetes at 2-3 times the rate of people without Hep C – as to why, nobody really knows.
It’s probably related to the Hep C and or the treatment, but probably would have happened without treatment.
We do see it more commonly in people who are overweight and notice that people who shed excess weight often have their blood sugar improve. It also occurs (less commonly) in adults in the normal range.
At the moment, it’s probably just something to keep an eye on. How tall are you and what do you weigh?
YMMV
27 October 2018 at 2:22 pm #28642Hi Dr James
Tall 174 cm
Weigh 74 kg
I do fitness.
Is it possible to cure?
Thanks31 October 2018 at 7:21 pm #28653My fasting glucose started increasing about 16 months after starting treatment with Harvoni on 8/12/16.
8/1/16 Glucose 91 Creatinine .89 UreaNitrogen(bun) 13
1/4/17 Glucose 93 Creatinine .92 UreaNitrogen(bun) 18
7/13/17 Glucose 95 Creatinine .83 UreaNitogen(bun) 13
12/28/17 Glucose 99 Creatinine 1.02 UreaNitrogen(bun) 15
2/28/18 Glucose 115 Creatinine 1.04 UreaNitrogen(bun) 15
Root canal on 3/26/18
7/10/18 Glucose 83 Creatinine .88 UreaNitrogen(bun) 99
Turns out I had a tooth infection. I did not have any pain. Once I had the root canal and started walking an hour a day my glucose and Creatinine went down.
Has you Creatinine increased? Could you have some undiagnosed infection?

Thanks for your reply.
I have one tooth decay since more than 5 month. It was very small before so waited to go dentist u. I am sure it need filling or rooth canal treatment now.. Maybe because of this ? 1.5 month later I have final test for SVR24. I do fitness and I started to morning run every morning for 30 minute. Also I have fitness diet without sugar . I will see what I have in 1.5 month and if still my glucose high I will see endocrine specialist.
Hope I will fix this and it is just temporary rising.

Your most recent results
7/10/18 Glucose 83 Creatinine .88 UreaNitrogen(bun) 9
Seem to show things have settled down nicely. I’d suggest you just keep an eye on it from time to time over the next year, and if nothing much changes – keep less of an eye on it!

6 December 2018 at 11:06 am #28772Hi guys,
Maybe this is stupid queston but yesterday was last day after 24 weeks of eot. I got already svr12 and so I should go to doctor for final svr24 test.
But 5 days ago after rainy day I have swollen tonsils ,my voice changed , I had little headache and little heartburn but we can not say say it really heartburn or stomache pain, kind of stomach upset maybe it is because of stress and sure feel little weak. Now I feel better, I am very in stressed because of this and can we say swollen tonsiles or other things can be symptom of relapse? Sure best answer is will be test but I guess I need to hear some comment. Until that day I feel very healty , go to fitness gain muscle and no extra feel weak after fitness. I remember before realized I have hcv after fitness I felt sleep short after exercies .Sorry for my grammer english is not my main laungage.
I guess in 2 weeks I go to doctor for meet with reality. Hope this will be ok .
Cheers.6 December 2018 at 11:54 am #28774Hello Kaju, you shouldn’t stress out at all, it’s extremely unlikely that after you reach SVR12, you will relapse and not reach SVR24. According to this blog post by Dr James https://fixhepc.com/blog/item/128-understanding-viral-load-and-hepatitis-c-treatment-success.html “Cure can be declared with 99.7% certainty when a patient has an undetectable test 12 weeks after end of treatment (SVR12)”. So your odds of relapsing are extremely small at 0.3%. Besides, stress makes the immune system weaker, and the symptoms you described can easily be common cold. Cheers.

6 December 2018 at 12:47 pm #28775Hi Mar,
Thank you for positive reply, I hope I had common cold otherwise it will be very tragic for me to catched again in 24th week after eot .
I hope all will be ok .
Cheers.7 December 2018 at 2:39 am #28776Hello kaju,
Your sore tonsils are likely just a cold. The chances of relapse post SVR12 are 1 in 300 – this is very rare, and you are far more likely to be in the 299 than the 1.
Best Regards
James

7 December 2018 at 12:00 pm #28777Thank you Mr. James
I hope so ..
My first 4th week hcv rna result was 15 copies and
I have got undedected result from first 6th week of treatment( maybe 5th because I have done test at 6th week) to svr12 and hope still ..
Cheers7 December 2018 at 6:40 pm #28780We had a terrible cold and flu season in the United States last year. A tent was set up outside my local hospital to handle the overflow of patients. I hope you have gotten your flu shot. I got the flu last year even though I got the flu shot. This year I’m taking the usual precautions like frequent hand washing. We still have to go out into the world.
Looking forward to SVR 24 results.

Hcv Rna, Quantitative Real Time Pcr <15 NOT DETECTED (IU/mL) NOT DETECTED20 December 2018 at 12:50 pm #28829Hi guys
Today I did my final lab test for svr24 hcv rna
my alt and ast is little higher than normal range
ast before 48 (svr12) but now 57
alt before 46 (svr12) but now 78
*I had undedected results during treatment even alt and ast was higher then references values.I use protein powder and doing fitness. Is these can be reason or hcv came back ?
Also I used antibiotic for 5 day and 2 pills in day . It finished 5 days ago but I am not sure if its reason.
I will wait hcv rna result hope it will be ok…very stresfull20 December 2018 at 2:20 pm #28831Hi Kaju, please don’t stress, the chances of you relapsing at 24 weeks post treatment after reaching SVR 12 are extremely tiny (3 in 1000), and your AST/ALT small fluctuations are most probably due to your exercising routine and nothing else as Dr James informed you before. Looking forward to your SVR 24 and final cure confirmation announcement

20 December 2018 at 2:55 pm #28833Hi Mar,
Thank you for your positive reply. I feel more good .. I hope result will be undedected. I really need this result I am not sure about to go with another 6 months treatment. Sure I can but mentally it will smash me. I has to finish it in 1 shot and hope already finished. waiting for test result.
