Great to hear that J is doing so well Cindi – with great credit & courage to you for taking the leap to proactively help him
Awesome that he can be a ‘normal’ 15yo now without the scourge of a progressive illness hanging over him. Great stuff!

isaing4@gmail.com1 January 2016 at 8:53 am #7677And he survived his first real party!!
Now he’s helping his dad cut up timber down the back.
I got attacked down there the other day by big jumpy ants, horrible buggers.
Agony. So I’ve sprayed J with anti mozzie stuff hoping to deter them.Anyone know how to get rid of them?
Happy new year to everyone.

1 January 2016 at 9:51 am #7685Yeah, we back onto the bush so we get all kinds of creepy crawly things, but these ants are the pits.
they can jump about 3 meters!! hmy:They are very aggressive & sting like hell.
A bit smaller than Bulljoes , but they all run & jump at you at once, like a huge creepy army.Don’t think they liked me throwing water soaked cow poo all over them….
didn’t know their nest was there in the garden. ops:

1 January 2016 at 10:29 am #7688Jumping Jacks! Yes, they are nasty little buggers. There is a nest in the creek reserve that my place backs onto but fortunately they stay on their side of the fence.

While I usually say live and let live, if these are in an area of your property that you use often you may want to consider exterminating the nest.

1 January 2016 at 10:33 am #7689ah, you’re lucky Paul.
The sting from these ants lasts a couple of hours hmy:We used to get heaps of funnel Web spiders too but Sean use to pour his bike oil down their holes & they decided to all move house.
But we also get good things like little wallabies, echidnas & bandicoots venturing up in our back yard.
Lots of parrots, even a powerful Owl sometimes. So makes it all worth it.
but wish the echidnas would eat those ants….

That’s it,Jumping Jacks!
they are nasty, but I think the cow poo must have freaked them out!!
They seem to have disappeared, I hope so.Don’t like to use poisons as we also have BlueTongue lizards, don’t want to risk hurting them.
We might try boiling water down their hole if they’re still there.
….if anyone’s brave enough to get close enough hmy:

I’ve been staying with my mum in funnel-web central most of the year, if its not that its a brush turkey invasion lol

ALT 2628 January 2016 at 5:55 am #10620Well, it’s been a long time since I posted about J, but his tx journey has been so smooth, there’s been nothing to comment on!
Very nearly at the end of his 12 week tx, only another week or so.
So is the go to wait 4 weeks post tx for the next bloods?
Not sure.J is extremely well & happy, back to school to tackle year 11 this year, hopefully he will feel more like doing his school work now.
He turns 16 in a few weeks! How wonderful if he’s hep free now, would be an excellent 16th birthday present!!!!
x
