Beautiful. It reminds me that although the world is hurting there are those that provide light and gentle hands.
Great news Songbird. Only a few more weeks to go…..
Hi Chattypie,
Thanks so much for sharing your story with us. Well done on your perseverance in getting the treatment despite some road blocks along the way.
I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. You have seen first hand and through your friend the flaws in the system that leave the most vulnerable people without adequate support.
Your falling viral load is good news. Keep posting – we look forward to hearing you updates.
Hi Kaju,
I agree with you that on balance it is better to start your treatment as soon as possible and in all likelihood you will be feeling much better by the time you take your trip. People travel with necessary medication all of the time and as Mar posted the regulations allow you to take your medication into the Netherlands. An interested border officer may check the ingredients to make sure there is nothing prohibited if it is not familiar to them but a prescription (and your explanation if necessary) will satisfy them.
Hi kaju,
It’s great news that your meds are on their way. I remember being really impatient to get them and start treatment. It’s a bit of a mantra but drinking lots of water, eating healthy and well, exercising and being a bit kinder to ourselves certainly helped me.
Good luck. May the postie deliver your precious cargo very soon.
16 March 2018 at 7:21 am in reply to: Cimivir-l purchased in India/ Other medical judgments of Hep. C #27609That’s wonderful news Gert. You are well and truly cured. I loved that you acknowledged your “stranger” in India who helped you on your way. I think posting our updates on this forum is also a way of paying forward to others who may be needing support to make the decision that can so drastically improve their lives.
Congratulations.
I hear you kullboys – I used to wake up like clockwork at 2 to 3 am and not be able to get back to sleep. I did try to not stress too much by reading (great for getting through a reading list) but it can make you feel like crap the next day.
I used some of the practical tips provided by Dr James below to optimise my potential for sleep (dark, quiet room, no caffeine after midday, exercise, no screens before bed etc.). I know it doesn’t help at the moment but it does get better along with many other health/body/mind related issues once you have finished treatment and the virus has gone.
That’s just great news Tigerfan. It seems such a short treatment time compared to how long so many of us carried the virus.
Hi Redhead,
Congratulations on your good news. I know what you mean – getting treated with generic medication was also one of my best decisions.
Thanks for posting – yours might be the message that convinces someone to jump in.
Looking forward to the SVR post.
Hi Balance,
Welcome and congratulations on starting your treatment. I had no idea what I was talking about when I first joined this site (still don’t sometimes) but you’ll be throwing around abbreviated medical terms before you know it!
I took Ribavirin with the Veikira Pak and Sof. Although it caused me a few additional side effects (headaches, a bit of sleeplessness and worst of all really really dry thin hair!) it was manageable day to day so I’m hoping it will be the same for you.
I’m a bit fond of the old Riba because it provided some of the heavy lifting that the treatment needed to get rid of my especially stubborn virus.
What Dr James doesn’t know about Hep C isn’t worth knowing so with his input, your own medical support and your community on this site you’ll beat this for sure.

Hi Sharmon,
Four weeks already and no side effects has to be good. You are taking such good care of yourself – well done you. Post those results when you get them.

Hi Songbird,
Wishing you well after such a wait for the right treatment.
I was lucky that my treatment was post the peg era but I did have a lengthy treatment regime due to a relapse. I had the Viekira pak, sof and ribavirin the second time around. The riba gave me a few more side effects but well worth it for the successful outcome.
I look forward to reading your updates.

Lovely thoughts and words Ariel. I hope you had a great Friday night – you took Gaj along with you in your heart.
It continues to make my heart hurt a little when I see Gaj at the bottom of old posts and don’t see it on new ones. Goodness that man had an impact.
Hugs to you Ariel.

That’a great news Vivcus. Keep doing what you’re doing right to the last tablet.
I was also like Ariel in taking a lot of joy in seeing those numbers decrease. Yours look fabulous!

Hi sabrecat,
You were one of my fellow retreaters and I’m so happy that the virus is gone and things are going so well.
As Mar said the treatments have a good success rate although realistically there will still be a small percentage of relapsers. Posts like yours are great to remind us that there are so many options now for the very small percentage like us that don’t beat it first time around.
Great news sabrecat.
