In a nutshell if you have had an HCC and treat with DAAs it is a 1:3 chance you will have another within 6 months.
Quality of life is better treated, but really close follow up is required for this group.

Hello Serb and welcome. I guess I was the opposite with my diagnosis…very anxious and depressed when I found out I had the virus. Was incredibly happy when I reach SVR4 and I am very close to my post 12 week bloods which should see the end of the virus for me. You are certainly in the right place for support and expert advice.
These DAA’s are fantastic with very few side effects too. Good luck with your treatment.
Cheers Lynne

Nail biting tension I know but trust in the statistics – they are robust.
Plan A should work, but if not there is always plan B or C.

We have a place to stand and a lever, so now let’s all heave!
I will kick this snowball off the top of the mountain if it’s the last thing I ever do. We’ve all pushed it up to the top – it will be fun watching to roll on down….

Yes, I don’t think there are words to describe how grateful I am to James (and Greg) for their efforts with the push for generics. When I was first diagnosed 12 months ago it was Greg’s blog that I came across while “googling” everything I could about Hep C. I had heard of the virus but had absolutely no idea about the ramifications that came along with it.
The support from everyone on this forum is awesome and allays a lot of fears for those us that have had our doubts here and there. It has also shown me just how brave the human spirit can be.
Shall post my SVR12 in a couple of weeks! Onwards and upwards!!!

Hi Lynne,
It’s not something I’ve seen commonly.
I would suggest:
Replace soap with Ego brand wash
Ego brand bath oil, which despite the name can be used in the shower, just by putting a little in your palm, adding a little water and wiping the resultant mix over your skin. Then give it a gentle rinse off – it’s like an all over moisuturiser
Ego brand Sorbolene cream to problem areas
And no I don’t have shares in Ego but their skincare stuff is the best – no fragrances, inexpensive, and it works. Widely available too.

Just a quick query…..I will be having my SVR12 blood test done at the end of the month however since I have stopped treatment my skin is really dry and itchy (no rash). Has anyone else come across this?

Afraid not. The people are the REDEMPTION-1 group with their positions randomly moved +/- 1 degree of lat/long. You are an independent generic rebel.
Mexico is hard. The sanitary department does not like imports. It’s flowing into Mexico from north of the Rio Grande

From this I assume that having no moral compass makes you more likely to have a broken legal one as well.
Yes, if you read this
http://fixhepc.com/blog/item/26-pharma-scores-rap-drug-cover-ups.html
You will note that according to an article published in the British Medical Journal Open section the Gilead HIV drug Stribild was approved on the basis of 21% (7/34) of the 34 trials were conducted.
One interpretation is that unfavourable results those 27 trials led to them being deliberately hidden and, if that turned out to be the case it would seem to be fraud. The scientific fraud would be one thing, but a drug approved on the basis of inaccurate data would then lead to payments being made for something that does not work as advertised.

If you were GT1 I would say don’t worry. With GT3 a few extra weeks are not a bad idea for many people, but you are really at what should be the “very easy” end of the spectrum.
I’d expect you to SVR with 12 weeks but if you’re tortured with worry and can arrange it adding 4 weeks would not hurt and adds a little insurance.
YMMV
There’s a bit of evidence that Ribavirin produces a scant few % points improvement in SVR in 12 week treatment for both GT1 and GT3, but there is also evidence that extending the duration adds more % points.
There is nothing to guide taking it at the end of treatment. What often happens is that it gets taken until the sides get to bad then stopped. The big problem is we don’t exactly know how it works.
You don’t say if you’re GT1 or GT3 in your signature. In your favour is low starting viral load, F0 and womanliness.
If you’re paranoid and losing sleep over things a few extra weeks of Sof+Dac 4-6 or even 12 does deliver slight improvements in SVR.
The duration is a case of diminishing returns. Each extra week adds less and less extra SVR and you have to draw the line at some point.
YMMV
Yes, there will be options left, but chances of success are 99% so it’s really really unlikely to happen to you Tweak.
You could do 12-24 weeks Asuneprevir or Simeprevir + Sofosbuvir + Daclatasvir
And who knows, maybe generic ABT-493 + ABT-530 + Sofosbuvir will be perfectovir.
