    hi LD,
If the antib’s are helping then you had a bacterial infection, glad to hear you’re feeling better already.

Myself am not too good, not sure what is up, just sort of tired, foggy brained, a bit groggy & trying to do a lot but end up not doing much at all…
Not sure if those are the sides, something else brewing or just not well since the flu….had thoughts of relapse but am all good, still UND.
Have bad insomnia due to lack of Melatonin, caused by using too much iPad, Mac late in the evening & night & suppressing the Melatonin production due to the blu light emission, so insomnia & more insomnia till 4-5 AM, that does not help.
Experimenting with trying to limit the evening & night exposure to PC, bright lights, wifi, etc which is difficult but found some ways around it… maybe write later about it more if I get a good result on my own thread.

9 weeks bloods all very good & improved on the 4 weeks one, just not feeling to great overall.

Anyway, am going off the Mac & wifi now, etc & will try to enjoy the night darkness to squeeze some extra Melatonin from my misguided pineal gland…before attempting to go to bed soon,
    hugs & #love

    Poor you LG #flower
Sorry to hear you’re feeling unwell & hope you’ll recover soon,

I have not been around much, so only just started to read some threads. As you remember I had a flu & cold & then some, it has taken maybe 4 weeks all together, but now reading this thread I think that the first “cold” was just sides.
The second flu was a real flu with high fever, chesty cough, the whole yard.
I really hope the antibiotics will help, I did not go for that option as thought the infection was viral rather then bacterial, so anti’s would not help much & opted out for the natural cures; garlic, ginger, honey, lemon & lot of hot water, antioxidants, etc & some good movies in bed.
Two days I had to take Aspirine that really helped to bring the fever down by inducing a lot of sweating.
I recovered in 10 days, but since had so much to catch up on work wise & otherwise thus not much time hanging around here, which I miss.

Take a good care of yourself LG #love

    hi LG,
I only just had a chance to look at your test,
Congratulations! those are very good results on course to UND in 4 weeks. :+1:
Why did you do 2 weeks VL ? rather then 4 ?

    Hi Dan,
Just to say, don’t despair .
There have been a few people I remember here who did not clear until week 8-9, I think Em was one of them.
The same goes for “feeling better”, I remember a few expressed that after the initial “high” things become more levelled & some felt tired as the tx progressed but still had UND at the end of tx.
If you LF & other bloods are improving then this is a positive outcome, it’s much too early to panic at this point, just my opinion.

Hi everyone, hope all is good in fixhepc Land :)
I had a bit of an unplanned break away from the forum as was busy being ill with Strep. that spread to my bronchis with terrible cough & fever.
That left me almost incapacitated in bed for the last 7 days & before that I managed to get food poison <img style=ick:' /> as well while celebrating & dining out with friends, so no joke.
Anyway, things have improved a great deal in the last 2 weeks & am out of bed at last, the fever has gone, still a bit wobbly & tired from the battle of killing yet another nasty virus & the forced & unplanned 2 weeks “de-tox” living mostly on hot drinks rather then any solid food.
I really hate being ill!, not very good at it at all, despite years of practice :(
I hardly had the opportunity to enjoy & appreciate my HCV free status so far,

My 5 weeks bloods were UND, other tests all normal, soon time to do another blood tests again, that will be at 9 rather then 8 weeks, I hope this does not make that much difference in overall picture.

wish everyone great results & healing #love

    Hi Deb,
Yes, the threshold has come down from 11pKA last year to 9.8 pKA. so in a way this is good news as more people would get the new DAA, still people like me @ 8.7 pKA would not get the new meds. Probably next year the score will get down to 8, so am glad I started to tx in December.
I’m feeling really good, a bit of insomnia, that’s about it, lots of energy, the brain fog has gone.
All bloods are perfect & am awaiting for my VL results @ 5 weeks.

How are you ?, am really excited to read you, LG & Tomas are all getting aboard.
    Did you started already ?

Hi Tomas & congrats on getting your meds already, well done. :+1:

On my Jolie’s Party thread I wrote about the monitoring in greater details, in short I had no problem with getting the basic monitoring from my consultant after I emailed him & reassured about the med’s quality, tests, etc. & gave link to the blog on this site.
He said NO to the prescription (as he only works for NHS so no private practise or private scrip was possible) but YES to monitoring once I got the generic meds.
It’s really great that our little UK tx group is growing here, the more people from the UK start to treat the easier it will be for others to follow & hopefully the UK consultants will feel more reassured in respecting & supporting our decision.

My consultant recently told me that I’ve made the right choice to start to treat with generic meds rather then waiting for NHS to get their act together, as apparently I’d not get the new DAA anyway as NHS only offer them to patients with the Fibro score of 9.6 kPa as a cut off point at present, so any lower then that no luck, you’ll get the old Peg/Riba & Sof instead but no Dac.
Nationally they’re trying to push the score downwards but who knows how long that will take, maybe another 1-2 years.

So we’re all very fortunate to have this access to generic meds thanks to the incredible Doc James & team & many other people like Greg J. & Rachel at Mes., Monk Meds, amongst many others good hearted people, who made this possible for us.

    Hi Jolie , Thankyou,
I Think this will become more common, the NHS monitoring. I am glad that our beleaguered health system isn’t having to pay the exhorbitant price tag for my meds.
How are you finding treatment these days?
    Debs X

I agree as to NHS, hopefully this year more people from the UK will decide to treat with generics, as the more people “make noise” about it the better, spreading the word.
I did point out to my doc that I just saved the hospital 80K by buying my own tx.

Thanks for asking, tx been going good, felt a little better each day until Xmas when I developed flu & have plummeted right down where I started; wooly/foggy head, exhausted, bit of fever, etc. so had to postpone my blood tests until I feel better.
I’ve been really pushing myself with work before tx & hitting out shops full of sneezing & coughing people, that was a mistake, but felt really well for few days & just wanted to “go out”, so here we’re…
I’m feeling a bit better today, so hopefully will be fine by next week.

Price, what a beautiful music track, thanks! it’s really relaxing & reminded me of other “yoga/meditation” music I used to listen years back.
Thanks for your reassurance. I got myself a quality BP machine with well fitted & correct size cuff for my arm & am not worrying for now.
The BP is on the higher side of 140-150/90-95 since the beginning of tx, so if I can I’m trying to reduce it by natural means.

Joan, I agree the strong heart beat for me is also somehow connected with tx. It might affect different people in different ways but def the heart muscle is working harder to pump the blood, that’s my feeling. Like you it can intensify for a while then get quieter then stronger again.
It could be something none looked into like the chemistry of the drugs affecting some nutrients necessary to support the heart, for example things like amino acid Taurine could be knocked out/ reduced on tx just like the B vitamins, esp that Taurine is manufactured with the help of B6.
Of course I am not a doctor nor biochemist, so just some ideas I looked into .

For interested if you google; Taurine, HCV, Liver, Heart, you’ll get more info as to it’s function & connections.
Maybe a good nutrient to take as supplement to help the heart & liver to heal? esp for people who are older &/or vegan/vegetarian? who are not able to get it or absorb it from natural food sources.
It supposed to help the liver to heal from injuries caused by Steatosis & Fibrosis as well as lower BP – there has been some good studies done on both animals & humans, on the subject.

hi Ariel, just wanted to wish you all the best & symptoms-free tx,

What a fantastic way to start New Year, the year to get out of hcv prison & be free for so many here.
I too was a relapser on the old tx, please don’t forget that it was the old toxic tx that has failed us, not the other way round, we did not fail, we fought the battle as advised.

The new DAA tx is just not comparable with the old tx & with hardly any fibrosis at all, you’ll be fine,
Congratulations of taking charge of your own health & life, :)

    Well done Nadia!,
I think you were the first woman in the UK to start taking those generics, as far as I know.
I came across your story back in summer on the UK hcv forum & reading your journey have help me to start looking seriously into the generic tx myself & now a few months later am on tx as well.
So thanks for being a courageous & inspirational woman, :) Merry Christmas!
