Hi Kaju,
I trust that you will be able to focus on what Dr Freeman advises, because he has more experience with HCV treatment than most doctors have.
It is good to undertake your own investigations to find the most expert guidance. Please do not get confused by having too many conflicting recommendations, just concentrate on the knowledge from the top experts.

Kia kaha e hoa ma!7 December 2017 at 12:58 pm in reply to: no longer furtively reading posts here, joined Redemption trials #27117A year ago I landed at my family doctor’s rooms complaining of feeling seedy. “What could it be?” asked the friendly locum doc who was filling in. “My untreated HCV?” I wondered aloud. He wrote a referral letter to a local hepatologist and exhorted me to get treated. And so I did. Cured now, I am. SVR 24
It turned out the lethargy was just low blood pressure so I upped my salt intake and sorted it out that way. But the side effect of meeting that doctor was that I took the steps to get the cure for the HCV. Win-win. Thank you FixHepC

Kia kaha e hoa ma!Hi 40-odd,
Great to have you on here! Your doctor’s interpretation of your tests as “some mild scarring” sounds like fibrosis, so you might need longer than 12weeks treatment. You now need more information. See if you can get hold of it from your healthcare team. Ask them to give you a copy of your liver function tests. Also for the fibrosis score or liver biopsy test results.By knowing your own numbers you’ll become expert by experience in your own healthcare. This ensures your next steps can be the right ones.
Reflecting on your experience of your NHS healthcare so far reminds me how much of patientrovider relationships are defined by healthcare-rationing. In the US by contrast people can buy whatever healthcare they want so long as they have enough money and insurance. It is an interesting contrast.

Kia kaha e hoa ma!Hi Kaju,
Do not wait for your viral load to change naturally. Once you commence taking the right medication, most of the virus will die in the first week. Some of us on this forum who are cured, had more virus than you when we commenced treatment, others of us had less to start with. In the end we became Hep C free. It doesn’t matter where you start, the important thing is just to get the right drugs and start taking them, and to keep swallowing them until the virus has gone completely.

Kia kaha e hoa ma!Welcome Kaju, and hello,
You have not stated if you have previously been treated, or that you’re treatment-naive. Knowing that can help your doctor decide on length of treatment. If you paste this exact search term: Hepatitic C Genotype Specific Treatment into the search function on this site, that should take you to a page with Table 6 showing the treatment regimens including for HCVC4. That table uses a traffic-light system so that suitable treatments are in green boxes. The ones that will not fix a particular Hep C genotype are in red boxes.
Ask more questions, the folk here are pretty helpful.

Kia kaha e hoa ma!Hi MWILLIAMS,
There is no need to be over-anxious about starting the treatment. The big thing is to take it at the SAME TIME EVERY DAY, REMEMBER TO TAKE IT DAILY. Also TAKE ALL OF THE PILLS.Some of us have done well taking the pills in the mornings.
By the end of week one, all or most of the virus in your blood will be gone

My situation was that my liver and blood test results were all in normal ranges. I had no cirrhosis and not even fatty liver. Most of that down to my dumb good luck; any remainder due to my oxymoronic healthy lifestyle choices as I was scared I might develop cirrhosis. Since being cured I have relaxed and I now consume alcoholic beverages. Since getting cured I’ve become somewhat carefree.

Kia kaha e hoa ma!Hi HCV2B,
You should be able to see in my signature the short version of my HCV story. I was cured this year though generic Sofosbuvir + Velpatasvir. Incepta, its manufacturer name it Panovir. The Pan part of the brand name comes from the fact that this drug works for most types of HCV. The vir part of the word is the suffix from Sofosbuvir. With these HCV treatments everyone needs the Sofosbuvir but can often get a choice on the accompaniments. You were prescribed generic Epclusa, so that’s Sofosbuvir + Velpatasvir, otherwise known as Velasof or Sofvel. I could just as easily have opted for the drug you were prescribed because I had a choice, but I went for something else because one of the papers I read suggested it might be better by a fraction of one percent. In other words the drug you are getting is as good for HCV2
And no, I do not need to add a Capcha code each time I post. Someone more techy than I should be able to advise a fix for that problem you are experiencing Alternatively ask a teenager, they know everything.

Kia kaha e hoa ma!Hi HCV2B, You are doing fine, your smartphone is a small and powerful computer which is perfect for forum-ing, so do not angst. Through regular writing and posting here you’ll most likely become tech-savvy while getting cured of HCV.
The title of this forum thread is 2B Here. That’s the subject title created two years ago when a member started the thread, I wonder whether it’s a wink to Shakespeare’s Hamlet)

Kia kaha e hoa ma!Hi HCV2B, Later today someone should come onto this forum to provide some better answers but in the meantime here are a few starters:
1. Many forum members here were cured through generic Epclusa.
2. If your generics were ordered from Redemption trials, then this quote from Dr Freeman’s #25368 forum post may help:
“there are regular problems. We do what’s required to make sure patients get their medication, but it is not always smooth sailing. There are 2 people working full time on a task that could be broadly defined as “get stuff cleared through customs”. “.

Kia kaha e hoa ma!Hi HCV2B,
Welcome to the forum. Waiting for the medications to arrive can certainly feel akin to watching paint dry, so hopefully yours will arrive one day soon. Then, when you do get the medication you wonder whether to take the first one then and there, or wait until morning, or the evening. Finally you take one and get your daily routine set up for successLooking forward to hearing more about your travel on the road to becoming HCV-free.
Yours, Mnem *)*

Kia kaha e hoa ma!Welcome and hello Top14u,
Many people come to this site after treatment failure, so this is a good place for you to be right now..You’ll need to know what type of HVC you have in order to get the right prescription to get rid of it once and for all. No need for trips to India for most of us on this site. I got my treatment from the FixHepC redemption trials. But there are other ways too. The thing I liked about FixHepC was the money-back guarantee of delivery.
