    Hi Erica,
You had high iron levels in your blood for a long time, in that situation joint-stiffness is possibly hemochromatosis induced arthropathy. Best to check with your physician, but others on this site may have other advice.

It is so good to read about how well you’re looking after yourself with nice food, good hydration and regular excercise. It is inspiring! Keep on keeping on.

    Hello FindingTheCure,
You have come to the right place. The majority of us on this forum were either cured through FixHepC, or are well on our way. I first came here as a seeker too.

 To fix your father you need to know the HCV subtype and level of liver fibrosis.
 Sofosbuvir needs to be used in combination with another drug to effect cure.

As both Hazel and Iain say, take a look around this site. Ask questions too if you like. Or you could go straight to the oracle and contact help@fixhepc.com

In my case I called FixHepC and spoke with them. That was now almost a year ago. Once I had all my test results from my doctor and the prescription, I ordered my treatment via this site. Within a few weeks it was delivered to my home. For less that $2K I freed myself from the HVC that had plagued my existence since youth. If I am lucky I will enjoy as many years of HVCless life as those I spent under its pall.

Looking back it’s hard to understand my previous hesitation to obtain generics. For me, leaving behind the burden of prejudice that I lived with as an HVC carrier is the greatest relief. Destroying the virus has given me great hope for my future.

With my best wishes, Mnem *(*

    excellent news Saban!
Now you must keep taking the medications.
    Do not stop.
Do not break the treatment. Keep on taking it right through to the end of the course. This way the HVC will likely remain negative.
But, if you stop treatment too soon then the HVC can more easily come back.

May the rest of your journey be easy.

    Hello Saban,
I am sorry to read that you have had such a hard journey with the heath authorities to reach the point where you could obtain the medications to cure your HCV. It is truly impressive that you have managed to get this far :+1:

You say your PLT levels were very low  Does that means your that low blood platelets? The reason I am asking is that I do not know if that is a German to English translation or not.

Now, I understand that you had to fund your own treatment, despite your liver being diseased. [Thank you for that clarification.] This is an investment you will not regret :)

I am hoping that you are beginning to feel better now you are taking the medication #flower and that you are not experiencing bad side effects from it.

best wishes for the remainder of your treatment.

    Hi Saban, Welcome!
I’m guessing your treatment is funded by your German public health system and that you did not have to buy it yourself. That is so good to have state-funded treatment, and it makes sense for nations to provide it for their citizens so that long term higher costs are avoided, and to reduce human suffering.

Most folk on this forum know the combination you are on as Ribavirin + Viekira Pak (ombitasvir-paritaprevir-ritonavir, and dasabuvir). There are many people on this forum who had GT1 and who were cured using this treatment combination, so you are in good company.
Wishing you well for your treatment.

    Hi Bern,
Sorry to learn you feel poorly still after getting rid of the HCV. This makes me wonder if you might be taking other stuff that could be affecting your liver. Worthwhile for instance to consider these ones maybe: herbal medicines, alcohol, very high sugar or very high fat intake.
Hoping you get a break, you sound like you could certainly do with one #flower

So intent was I to tell you about the Liverpool University interactions checker, that I forgot to say “Welcome betterdays!”

I have gathered that you have Genotype 1 HCV from you being on this particular discussion thread.

It is great to have a PRep-er on this site, asking the questions that you asked. The more questions and responses posted here, about different situations that each of us is in, then the richer the information that is accessible for all.
Looking forward to hearing more from you on this journey.

    Hello Betterdays,
Following on from Splidog’s earlier reply I want to say, in case you have not already done this; to run your proposed DAA prescription, and PREP, or any other medications including herbals, through the Liverpool University Interactions checker.

    Hello again Goodluck Girl,
Reflecting upon your doctors advice to opt for the 8 week treatment length, you would have time to order an extra DAAs to lengthen treatment so long as you get good turnaround time on 4-week viral load blood test results. Others on this forum have done that successfully.

Acting on 4-week bloods does not of course cover those who relapse after end of treatment, but it is certainly a good way to see how you are doing, early on.

I am looking forward to hearing when you start, the DAAs, you are setting up your scene so well with putting the new life habits in place. Well done!
With all my best wishes, Mnem *)*

    Hi Bogdan 16,
Avoid vitamin supplements unless you need them, instead spend that money and effort on good food. The vitamin industry is intimately tied with big pharma who are not our friends. They’re always finding ways to say we need to buy their goods which at worst can harm due to excess, or more commonly make for expensive urine when excess is peed out.

Best wishes with your treatment, Mnem

    Welcome Goodluck Girl!
I do not recall anyone else on this FixHepC forum having Myasthenia Gravis but many of us HCVers happen to have various other autoimmune, or other disorders.

The good news is that some people report the problems they thought due to the other chronic disorder, turned out after SVR, to have been caused by HCV.

If you take any medicines, supplements or herbal preparations for your MG, then you or your doctor will want to run those through the checker (there is a link on this site). That is to ensure all the medicines work harmoniously with the generic Harvoni.

Most likely, you’ll need more than 8 weeks generic Harvoni to be more assured of SVR  Please think seriously about this aspect.

It’s a nice idea of yours to mitigate potential side effects through a lacto-ovo vegetarian diet. Other vegetarians on this site might may disagree. I did not get sides, and I do eat some meat but maybe that’s just me. Eat whatever is good for you is the way to go :)

Pre-treatment there is inevitably, for all of us, natural fear of what might happen. We start our treatment, and wait to see what happens, it seems to turn out well. So I feel hopeful for you #love

With best wishes for your treatment, Mnem *)*
