klhilde, yes I am that lady who posted on Medhelp way back when. I’m so happy that I was part of your decision to seek treatment as well. Once I set out do something, nothing holds me back! I was calling Drs in India, scouring the net for more news when Dointime had mentioned Greg’s blog. From there I came here, back when there was barely 25 people registered.

I have to say I am very lucky to live in Panama because I was in charge of my own treatment. No need to get a script for blood work or any other meds. I only got my Gastro to write a script after I paid Mesochem and that was just to clear it through customs. I love living in a country that runs on bribery. One can get anything they want. I use to think my Canadian socialized medicine was great until you have to treat. I hate the fact that the government dictates what you can or cannot do.

Now I can get on with living. My only regret was retiring too early as I thought I may only have about 10 years or so. Boy was I wrong. Heres to pinching myself again!!!!

I’m Geno 1a stage 4 and have previously treated 4 times. I just finished my 5th round of treatment last week with 24 weeks of SOV/DAC + RIBA. I go for my PCR in mid July. Praying that I clear!

When my API’s arrived they were fine. After a month, the Sofosbuvir had expanded and it was lumpy. I thought it was due to heat and humidity. Nothing that a good old fashion rolling pin can’t fix!

I went in for blood work today. All is normal with the exception of AST 58 UI/L and ALT 63. That is twice now that my enzymes have been on the high side. I’m jealous that everyone else is having normal functions after the 1st week. The good news is that I will not dose reduce or go off the Riba. My feet were normal today and I will keep an eye on them. Now I can go back to bed. It’s just one of those days. And I promise not to watch It’s a Wonderful Life or Miracle on 42nd Street.

Thank you everyone for your replies. Woke up this morning and my feet look normal. I was at my Dr’s last week and I had a bit of swelling, but not enough to mention it. Even tho I have cirrhosis, I have not had any problems with my liver. I am due for my 8 week labs early next week, but promise to go and have them done tomorrow. Today, I am just too tired and have gone back to bed. I think the Riba may be causing me a few problems. I seem to cry and become overly emotional. When I see dogs, babies, homeless people, elderly folks, Christmas music, pictures of Canada, I seem to well up. The good news is that I had my 4wk PCR done and results came back at 16.

Shoot, I was putting 60 gms into my capsules and for the 1st two weeks I was just winging it as I did not have a proper scale. Maybe this is why I was not clear at my 4th week PCR. My viral load was 16. Thanks for the info Dr Freeman.

Thank you, everyone, for responding. I feel much better now. I know I read reams of info before purchasing, but when I saw the article, panic set in. I was really hoping tp do 12 weeks of Riba, but think I will stay on it for the 24 weeks. The big Liver meeting is this weekend, so hopefully more data will be coming our way. Once again, thank you all!

I bought from a company called http://www.GandhiMedicos.com I heard about them through a forum in Russia and they come highly recommended. I ordered on Oct 1 and received them today Oct 12. Very impressed. The other meds from Mesochem I will not bother having tested as the good folks in Oz are testing theirs and all is well. I’m sure they are doing it because of legalities. Nope, I’m just going cap my own and be on my way to treatment by this week end. I’ve done this treatment so many times. I have no fear!

Or you could come to Panama where you can see a Gastro and get a script. My Dr was very excited when I told him what I was doing. Now Ribavirin is available here in Panama, but I had no luck finding it, so I bought it through India, had it shipped through the US then forwarded on to Panama. And it was a 6 month supply. Customs never even looked at my parcel.
