Three weeks down, nine to go. I still feel a bit fuzzy in the mornings but generally more clear headed and energetic. I swim 3-4 times a week and have done 600 metres almost non-stop! Previously that would have been a struggle and would need a few rest breaks to swim that far.
Still have that speedy feeling but not quite as intense. Sleep is still less than I’d like, average about 6 hours with intermittent waking some nights but not all. I sometimes try for a siesta but usually doesn’t work. Occasionally I will have 10-15mg oxazepam or a couple of puffs of pot to ensure sleep if I have a big day ahead. Pot is actually better for this as the oxazepam seems to take longer to wake up and clear the brain the next morning.
I’m not noticing much difference in the other symptoms originally posted. Skin is still prickly, seborrheic dermatitis unimproved, although my general mood is better overall. We had another heatwave in Melbourne just before New Year which knocked me around as usual, and I think I slept badly on New Years Eve causing subluxation in my neck but that’s from the osteoarthritis/fibromyalgia which is likely not completely HCV related. And my osteopath is on holiday till next week. :(

TL;DR – Some great improvements but still not 100% healthy.

Looking positively to the future, 4 week blood tests next week.. B)

That’s a shocking report, nurses stealing IV drugs and refilling and reusing the syringes on patients. That is insanely reckless and irresponsible. They should be hung.
Some of the comments on that page reveal the ignorance of the public re HCV. Mention of sexual transmission which I understand is extremely rare, and lack of a cure. Not sure about the USA, but in Australia every news media has carried stories of the new DAAs and recent government scheme.

Good that you’re having improvements and feeling positive. There’s a song from years ago “The Future’s So Bright, You Gotta Wear Shades” Seems apt. B)

I found my GP more receptive to my use of generics and he agreed to do a full blood test for me (ALT and AST came back normal – pretreatment both were raised) but said he didn’t have the authority to obtain a VL test for me.

My GP had no problem with ordering blood tests including VL pre-tx but wouldn’t prescribe and said further monitoring should be done by the prescribing doctor. He’s in a clinic that mainly sees families and old people so I may be one of his only HepC patients.
His main concern was the quality of the generics but was satisfied when I explained the testing/verification process.

Are you in Australia, Thurl? I think it would be helpful for everyone here to put their country in their signature so it’s easier to understand our individual situations. I’ll do mine now.

I’m very wary of statins. Some evidence points to accelerated ageing and other nasty unwanted effects.

There was a thread a few days ago which addressed some of the food interactions with one of the main metabolising enzymes.
    http://fixhepc.com/forum/questions-and-answers/523-caffeine-codeine-noni-not-good-with-daclatasvir.html

In particular was an included link to this pertinent article which mentioned other foods to be cautious of or avoid –

I would love to hear from Dr James on foods while on treatment, and an FAQ would be most helpful.

@GAJ Yeah I would definitely not recommend regular use. My experience is a couple of puffs at a mate’s place and having a good night’s sleep for a change.

Sorry if we’re hijacking your thread, Phoenix, but need to make it clear.

You may be being overly cautious here. Most vitamins and herbs can be helpful and I’m certainly not stopping my daily ones. I just checked the drug interactions site and the only one contraindicated (of the ones I checked) is St John’s Wort, with antacids and grapefruit as “potential”. Even cannabis is not contraindicated and I can vouch it helps with the common sleep deprivation many people here have reported, although I wouldn’t do it every day. ;)
There is also a thread on this forum about B12 and it’s probability to increase the efficacy of DAAs.
