9 January 2016 at 12:11 pm #8437I probably should also post an update here. I created a QA and here I’ll list the price quoted from them for Resof-L
Rs 16000 plus shipping Rs 3000. Total is Rs 51000 (762 USD as of this post date).
This is the cheapest I have seen so far, so much below the market price of all the supliers currently.
If anyone can verify their integrity, or any more info about them, would be good. Because as of now, they are the cheapest out there.
Note: This price is unrealistic and unlikely to represent real product. Dr Reddy’s is a premium brand and the MRP is Rs 25000.
9 January 2016 at 1:38 pm #8444For what it’s worth Dr Reddys is not a licensed manufacturer of Sofosbuvir or Sof/Led. From the one label I could read on the net they are a distributor and the manufacturer is Hetero. But very little information out there so how correct that detail is remains to be seen. That price seems far too low even allowing for the competitive marketplace in India.

9 January 2016 at 2:02 pm #8445Dr. REDDYS IS NOT licensed by Gilead Sciences under the agreement for 101 countries. The price of 16000 INR per bottle is far low for any distributor from India to export. Raises doubt about the legitimacy of the supplier. Suspicious. To me looks more like a marketing strategy from one of the distributors from that INDian mart.com. buyers beware.

Starting treatment in January 2016. Thnks to Greg and David COWLEY9 January 2016 at 2:10 pm #8446Dr Reddys is perfectly fine a company. So are all the Indian companies making Harvoni. India has laws they just cant produce Harvoni without a licence from either Gilead or the other firms licenced. The others firms give the licence ahead to other firms this is normal in India.

These middlemen is where the problem lies. Now that is something I don’t think many including me knows about. I’ve done some research and it does seem like they are licensened by Hetero and Hetero is by Gilead.
But how they can drive the price so far down, remains to be the question that needs to be asked. I don’t want to write them off so early on, and although it’s very common that cheap equals to cutting corners, for this company however, they seemed ok.
I’ve only found one negative about them, is that somewhere in November the FDA issued a warning letter http://www.reuters.com/article/us-dr-reddys-fda-warning-idUSKCN0SV0FA20151106
From there I found out they were a listed company https://www.google.com/finance?q=NYSE:RDY
9 January 2016 at 2:30 pm #8453what is the best possible way to ensure that the indian distributors are reliable? Personally i would first ensure the reliability of the supplier then the quality and then the price. I am travelling to Mumbai next week, is there anything that this forum wants me to find out in India?
I was getting the meds shipped by those suppliers on Indiamart, but i chose to travel and buy them myself since I was scared of buying counterfeit drugs which greg said correctly said that india is known for scams.
Can i buy from Hetero company or Natco company directly ?

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepC10 January 2016 at 11:38 am #8518Its a huge company In India, about the price I cant comment. But it will fall further.
MRP ON THE BOTTLE means MAXIMUM RETAIL PRICE which is standard at 25000 for all brands. But you get a 10-20% discount if you do.
The standard price today is $ 1000 for 3 bottles with a 10% discount calculated on the MRP.
The seller makes 10-15% profit after the discount he OFFERS YOU so he buys at approx $ 865 and sells at 1000 to 1200
Rupees 16000 seems very low indeed but of course they are generics and cost to make them is very low and there is competition in the market. Even at Rupees 16000 per bottle is too expensive for the average Indian who earns less than that a month.I am planning to buy either from Natco or Hetero or Mylan or Cipla for someone I know who needs it.

16.08.2016 SVR 2410 January 2016 at 5:41 pm #8548Can we have a joint effort to send an email to them and ask for their price? With your own situation.
Here’s an info I left out (i don’t know if it plays a role), but because my dad mentioned he is a pastor and also not super wealthy in the first email, so I am not sure if that makes any sense, but that may have made a difference due to compassion.
I know it doesn’t make sense in some ways, but I read some articles that they have a vison to help the poor and needy to access medication at a reasonably cheap price (something like that along the line).
