Hi Mike, very interesting. Did the insurance company pay for the meds or the guy?
I ask because if US insurance companies were to sign on to the concept of personal importation of the meds, thus circumventing the patent laws, then it's game over for Big Pharma. So I'd find an event like this of seismic importance.

Hey DT,
Unfortunately, no. A self-pay. The insurers need to see the light and stick it to big pharma. My copay for harvoni would have been $1050 for 12 weeks.
I'd rather Beijing Mesochem make the money rather than Gilead.
Is that screwed up or what?
Mike

I just emailed Mesochem (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) to find out prices, ordering, paying and shipping details, whether ID is needed, & crucially whether a script is needed.
It would be hugely helpful if someone who has already been through the process of ordering from Mesochem could outline their detailed experience of buying meds from them - it feels like a leap in the dark.
- Anybody in UK know of a Doctor who would give me a script? My GP & Consultant ran a mile when I asked them.
- Capsulation of the APIs? any tips about that? I gather you can get all you need on Ebay...
Good luck to all those doing treatment!
Muir

Hi Muir/
The whole process I followed is in Patient Stories under Hopeful In the U.S.
Let me know if I can help more.
Mike

Greg Jefferys covers imports to the UK in depth at hepatitisctreatment.homestead.com/twinvir-bangladesh.html

For example on 29th October 2015:

``UK Generic Hep C Medicines Importation Breakthrough
Wow this is BIG... Hep C patients in Britain DO NOT need a prescription from their doctor to import generic Hep C meds for personal use into the UK....

Muir, you won't need a script if you buy from Greg Jefferys or Mesochem. Some correspondence from the NHS confirming your HCV status is enough for Greg. As Mike said, read his blog thread for info on dealing with Mesochem. Mesochem also accept a letter of involvement from a compounding pharmacist as sufficient to supply to you, so you could be creative in that aspect. If you do need a script, Pall Mall Medical (0161 236 2111) have an excellent Hepatology Consultant working out of their Manchester and Newton-le-Willows clinics who will prescribe (but take your medical history with you to the consultation).
