I got a great parcel in the mail at the end of last week and started treatment on the weekend. Feeling absolutely fine apart from a weird chemical smell coming out of my body – will keep you posted on who the side effects and test outcomes.
Great news about the PBS listing – so many people are waiting and dying for these drugs – I couldnt be more chuffed about it.

Updating progress following test results following 1 month on declatisvir and sofosbovir.
Still detectable but viral loads are down from 5.8 Log 10 IU/ml to 1.2
ALTs are down from 26 to 12
Am experiencing tiredness and some nights with wakeful sleep but still going to work everyday. Also, still smelling very chemically.
Am thinking of doing 16 weeks but am would love to hear from those who have new evidence showing that longer is better.

Hi Browny,
The log figure means the first number times ten by the number of times the little number beside the ten shows. So in your case 6.4 multiplied by ten, five times or 6.4 x 10 x 10 x 10 x10 x10 = 640,000 In other words, your pretreatment test was 640,000.
I suspect your new result is probably less than 15, maybe shown as <15 just because 15 is a common cutoff point for a lot of these tests. Whichever it is, that's a good result for F3-4 at 4 weeks. :+1: :)

16 February 2016 at 7:09 am #11985Thanks Gaj and all
I looked at the test result and it is just 15 (no < or >).
I was a bit bummed at first because so many people on this site and the few people I know were undetectable after 4 weeks – but yes, the reduction in viral load and improvement in ALTs are all good.
I just wanted to share my experience for others out there who might be in similar situations.

Ordered Sof/Dac from Buyers Club 16 Nov which arrived 17 Dec, started tx 20 Dec16 February 2016 at 11:51 am #11994We have 33.5% cirrhosis patients in the group we are tracking. This is much higher than most of the published clinical trials.
What we observe is that F3/F4 patients do take longer to reach undetected.
In Gilead’s trials <25 was what was used so you would have been <25 detected, rather than 15 detected at 4 weeks, so it is in line with expectations.
It will go to undetected, maybe through <15, but undetected should really read <10 or <8 because this is closer to the real meaning.
With F4 GT3 you do need 24 weeks treatment to deliver a 90% SVR rate.
Ketogenic diet, B12 and Vit D may assist, but that's speculative at the moment. The "energy slump" some patients get about a month into treatment does seem to respond to B-B-Berocca.
I would not worry too much. It's not the millions of die easy HCV virions that cause relapse. It's the handful of resistant mutants that we simply can't measure.
The observation of slower response does suggest why the extended treatment time is required for F4 GT3
YMMV
