30 January 2016 at 12:45 am #10753Day 3
Where are the joint pains, headaches, nausea, fatigue that I prepared for?
Just wondering if I got the real meds…..just a small doubt here……
I hope I’m just lucky!
After reading everyone else’s experiences there is a range of sx and these drugs are so much better tolerated so I’ll know in 26 days when I get a blood test if they were the real deal.
The waiting…..

geno 1a30 January 2016 at 3:26 am #10767Much the same thoughts I had at the start Magpie, though my GP ran week 2 LFTs that gave me confidence that something was happening. This are nothing like the bad old days, you will find the Riba takes a couple of weeks to kick in but if you tolerated it okay previously then it shouldn’t be too bad. I can see my haemo, etc. results dropping and notice the ‘drag’ but am nowhere near anaemic and still have far more energy than pretreatment.
So kick back, relax and be grateful you seem to have minimum sides.

4 February 2016 at 7:45 am #11148I read that the first week was the worst for sides but I wasn’t prepared for the incredible difference between day 6 and 7. I almost feel good! just a little headache that waves in and out.
Today is day 8 and Ive been to the gym, done some gardening and now about to do some physical work. Maybe they are all dead!
Just waiting for reply from registra on the result of my pretreatment viral load.

geno 1a4 February 2016 at 6:42 pm #11175Great news! I hope it keeps up. I felt great for the first month or so and now in week 8, I am feeling kind of knocked out from (i hope) the meds. Today is starting off good however and whatever I have now is nowhere near as bad as what I felt b4 I started tx…

geno 1a5 February 2016 at 1:10 am #11196I did riba with peg/inf in 2012 and yes I got a significant rash
I don’t know how riba combined with DAAs manifests in sx
However the “riba rash” was a very common sx on that old protocol
I suspect the itchy spots may be riba
Ask a doctor for this to be confirmed it progressed as tx went on with me and I used various things to soothe it
However I don’t want to worry you so ask a doc xxxxxx
Hoping you get relief
Ariel5 February 2016 at 3:31 am #11206Yes, itchy skin can be a side effect, with or without a rash.
For people taking riba, sun exposure is not a good idea.I got nightmare full body riba rash with the old interferon tx. With the DAAs it was not bad at all, just an odd spot here and there.
The rash can look like bites, for example on your arms. That kind looks like pinprick red spots, especially after sun exposure. Other places it can look like your skin got scalded, or sometimes like the veins just under your skin turned angry pink.Actually, the “rash from hell” was my worst fear when I started this round of the DAA’s + riba but I am happy to say that without interferon it did not come to anything that had me worried.

5 February 2016 at 6:31 am #11222Riba does cause skin issues, itchy, dry, rashes and lumps, etc. and insect bites also seem to be worse on it too. If it is just a few lumps and not causing problems I would monitor for now and see how they go but if you are concerned or a serious rash develops or spreads then seek medical advice. Unscented/coloured, pH balanced moisturisers (I use plain sorbolene) seem to help a bit.
BTW my ears are dry and flaky this week.

Thanks for the response- I was thinking I should start using some moisturiser like sorbolene.

geno 1a5 February 2016 at 9:09 am #11236Hi Magpie
Just chirping in with this topic again
Re washes and moisturiser
I used Dermaveen for riba rash
pH 5.5 wash
Shower and Bath oil after
They come in a pump pack and helped me
Basically the doc had to lower my riba dose it was too angry like weeping sores (peg/inf) but these were the most gentle and soothing products
Moo Goo is a range worth trying too I used their cream
Hope this helps
