http://www.mylan.in/en/Like the Cipla website, Mylan’s site is not set up for consumers/patients to find information about specific drugs or distribution channels. Stlll looking for trustworthy retail sources.
Mylan is the authorized reseller of Gilead’s Sovaldi brand (Sofosbuvir) and presumably soon also Harvoni (Sofosbuvir/Ledipasvir.)
Contractually they are limited to only allowing delivery of a single 28 tab bottle, with the next order given on return of your empty bottle.
Don’t play their game.
There is no reason whatsoever to believe that the Gilead branded product is in any way superior.
Available Generic Products:

As it is also manufactured by Natco I would suspect (but obviously can’t confirm) it is coming off the same production line but with different packaging.
We need to remember that with such recent release (only a few weeks ago) the various manufacturers and distributors will be jostling for marketing advantage. Larger ones will have the advantage of volume to reduce prices but OTOH they will be better known and trusted so can charge a premium while smaller ones are the reverse. Then there will be “special introductory offers” to gain initial market share but if these result in the distributor risking running out of stock they will put their prices back up until they can restock. I suspect in six months or so the market will be more settled with “household name” brands charging a slight premium and the lesser known ones being slightly cheaper. This is marketing today!

30 December 2015 at 1:08 pm #7535I agree GAJ,
I have decided to go through Redemption.
This takes all the worry of supply chain integrity away – essential here in England to get NHS medical support onside (free). My GP was very peased to hear the word ‘Cipla’ !Also takes away the worry of the confusing bombardment of emails from various sources arriving in my email account! (some a little aggressive).
It is a little more expensive, but saves hundreds, possibly thousands in monitoring while on tx. (which I don’t have!)
It also offers Dr support, side-effect monitoring and advise from some lovely, polite and helpful Drs. via MonkMed & Dr F. / GP2U.
The fact the trial results will be taken to the ‘powers that be’ is also a bonus as it may contribute to helping others in the future, so this ‘gives something back’ in a small way.
Hopefully, this will be my one and only treatment, fingers crossed, so as I have carried this damn thing for many years, I’m not going to risk a purchase from someone I don’t fully trust, this should also lessen any anxiety during treatment.
So for a small extra cost that takes so much worry away, for me and gives peace of mind, it’s the only way to go !

Completely agree about helping to provide data that will assist others and the docs to better guide and treat…the main reason I’ve hung onto my meds the last month. I’ve been given so much just by having the opportunity to access tx, feel its only right to be able to help if possible.

Absolutely , especially to the new-comers diagnosed recently, there is so much to learn, as I have been over the past 18 months, the stress has been terrible, especially pre the good people like MonkMed, Dr F & Gregg J. I was looking at the old triple with Telap / BOC (shudder) & possibly loss of job & home,
If I can be of any help in any small way I will, but collectively, we may be able to help ‘move mountains’

The Doc’s organising of the Redemption trials must give huge confidence to both heppers and doctors who were concerned about generics both from a sourcing and quality point of view. This was a big factor in my decision to use the FixHepC buyers club when I stumbled onto the generics path three months ago. Set up by a well known Australian doctor with easily checkable veracity (yep, I did due diligence ;~} ) who was happy to front our national media and had set up a system of NATA level testing for each import we made was a huge confidence booster for me. But of course only available for Australian delivery unlike Redemption .
I must admit I would have liked to participate in these trials myself but it was early days then and my priority was to get treatment started asap based on my state of health. I can be very impatient when I decide a course of action.

30 December 2015 at 2:17 pm #7547I hear ya GAJ,
I decided to wait, mainly due to monitoring issues here in the UK & life responsibilities. In a different senario I may well have taken your path, after all, it is ultimately our own responsibility to make an informed choice and take control of our health where possible. We do what we have to do.
However, waiting for NHS support (still waiting for consultant re-referral as I type) and the release of better-known generic meds for that reason, was important to me, didn’t want to ‘go it alone’.
The fact it may help others in a small way is definitely a bonus though

Re: Redemption trials
“I must admit I would have liked to participate in these trials myself but it was early days then and my priority was to get treatment started asap based on my state of health. I can be very impatient when I decide a course of action.”
I did wonder whether there is any way of contributing our data to this trials? I expect though that doing this in such an ad hoc manner would be a big no no.
J.
