    Hello friends
Post SVR12 investigations have started now I’m at week 19 or 20 past tx.
Yesterday I had scans and ultrasounds
    Aorta
    Pancreas
    Spleen
    Liver
    Kidneys
    Bladder
    Gall bladder

I’m pleased to report that I have no spots apart from the two on my kidneys we knew about and they haven’t changed. The largest is still only 4cm. I’m so happy, what a totally different result than after that old tx! No stones in my kidneys yay :) no lithotripsy phew :)

My colonscopy has to be postponed; but just for a week due to a sudden unexpected timing clash because of a funeral I need to attend next week interstate.

I’m hoping for better results from the colonscopy this time too compared to post the old tx. And I am confident that it will be just as I suspect, all much better this time, even the specialist doing this one is hand picked and extremely well respected locally, which is also important to me.

I urge all friends to be vigilant with check ups post tx. :+1:

Even if you have never had any secondary issues or had the old tx why not be checked out? It’s certainly sensible I think; even if it’s a bit stressful.
My GP is super duper yes. :+1: :+1: :+1:
I’m also having my ladies check ups.
Closure is important and knowing that the organs are healthy or need some help is defs part of the trip for me. Gotta have the engine running well!
Have a lovely weekend TGIF :)
    Love from Ariel

    Hi Momo and welcome :cheer:
Wow what fantastic news from you, thank you for sharing this exciting pathology. That’s a marvellous response to the sof/led, what an enormous drop in VL and LFTs
I’m another sof/led success story myself, thanks to FHC, and I too have that old stuff in my signature I saw your run in with it too, so this just shows the world how darned amazing the new DAAs are and so easy on us no comparison!! I had so few sx, yes my bp went up, but another forum member helped on that and recognised why I was tired etc and it was easily sorted with a bp tablet, I am off that post tx :)

Wishing you continued success to und then svr
Looking forward to your posts along your way to health

Something I wrote about Trust, a lesson taught to me learning to swim and so on when very young, by my beloved father (Rest In Peace) in the ocean, and a lesson that has helped my run in with health issues. Let’s see if Ariel can load one of her piccies I have been unable for a good while, so I will try!

Welcome Nads Thankyou for sharing some of your story so far with us all. You have had some similar experiences to some other people here and will find help as well with tx and beyond from forum members and the information here already available, as you have said. I hope you have an okay time on the meds everybody is different it seems in their sx. Some have almost none and others have some, I must say I have never seen anything to worry about on DAAs, and for me so far they’ve worked. I’m approaching my last test in around five weeks it’s the SVR24.
Greetings again from the other side of the globe,
    Wishing you good health ahead

Hi Hope. I know why you are anxious at the moment but the odds really are in your favour. G3 is a bit harder to clear but as Hazel said there is a decent percentage of people that do and they do not necessarily report on this forum.

I am a 1a that recently relapsed but I know that I have options for retreatment and will beat it in the end. I know when I post about this it can cause a bit of anxiety so I try to minimise it but I agree with Hazel that it all needs to be reported.

Hang in there Hope. Wishing you all the best for your next results. #flower #flower

Coral you are so kind your empathy shines through even in with your own personal issues at present, this is so kind of you I totally agree that writing up relapse is not pleasant, but you have my support for one. Unfortunately some people do and have relapse/d and I am glad to see the topic for all genotypes because it’s one of the things that I am still working on fortnightly with my psych and I relapsed a few years ago but it was the old tx and an unpleasant ending, still, all relapsers need support more than anyone I think. It took me a month for it to even sink in thinking back, and then I turned into a lobbying machine once I discovered that I had been treated with “old meds” as in the old stuff when they knew that the new stuff was around.
The way I see it is we are a whole person not just a physical body. In my case I got lucky this time and have held up so far to SVR18 but I still have to heal my ptsd to move forward fully. And in my case, the ptsd was from the old tx.
My heart is with all who relapse
I’m so relieved that there are better options and I would love information on the best practice lobbying in Oz re the new drugs Pipeline because it was a marathon lobbying for Sofosbuvir wasn’t it fellow political naggers! Three years is too long so I hope that the newer meds are through PBAC to PBS faster than that.
It still astounds me the way FIXHC is pretty much the only honest real sane non greed driven place for the hepC patient globally
For this we all give thanks
All relapsers I am so hopeful for you and we know that we are in good hands here at FHC

Fitz I wish you the very best outcome from that last bottle you’re hopping into. Looking forward to your blood results and gosh I hope that the unquantifiable comes back UND. What with a surgery in the middle of it all, you have done a great job. Hopefully you will be able to finish this course and that’s that..
All the best for your forthcoming results, A #flower

Hey LG I was sooo tired after EOT too and my timing was almost exactly as you recount. I am still having interrupted waking and am SVR18plus. I think it will take a while for my little body to get used to not being on meds as it has been a variety of prescribed cocktails over almost five years. I think you did a long haul and have taken a lot of DAAs (the first one was really rough on you too) and will also need a good break until you feel okay and routines start up in your internal body clock, at least that is my experience for what it is worth. It is very stressful after EOT, well it was for this old relapser here despite my labs during tx being so good and all the praise on the forum I still was anxious my friend, so I can only send you loving empathy at this time. I pulled bloods every 4 weeks I was so scared because of my previous experiences. Being a slow responder are you seeking out LFTs and so on more often ? I am not trying to scare anyone ever, I am just wondering how you are feeling inside. (I am sneaking off for LFTs recently for my own peace of mind, just haven’t blogged)
I only want the best for you come on LG cross the finish line I am so backing you. #love #love #love #love

    Hey Gaj
Having had a mini break I haven’t written a whole lot lately and sorry I haven’t written personally to you yet. Relapse is no friend of ANYONES that’s for sure and I send you big empathy on that.
    However
I’m certain that if anyone can finish this race it’s you
You’re always keeping ahead of the latest data and treatment options to the point you help others with information re same.
The recent treatment has given your liver a good break and yes you have a healthy lifestyle too.
Another fork in the road, but one with new improved meds coming.
You deserve the best Gaj and I am backing you for the next tx.

    @ariel

Thank you Dr Freeman for your reply in this topic
I asked this question myself of my public hospitals specialist and my treatment GP when I reached SVR12
I have been assured there is zero way a non active, undetected virus can be transmitted, as there’s nothing to transmit; this is what I was told.
I have two children and no vertical transmission ever occurred.
I too have shared nail clippers etc as others here mention and nobody else has contracted hcv in my immediate family, and neither do I have it either now Thankyou to the generic medicines.
Sure, there will be a marker to say we once had contact with the virus but it’s gone. (I am immunised for HepB and a marker shows that tells the doctor I have been immunised maybe HepC will just look like that now, seems logical)

Anyway That’s my Drs explanation as well as I can relay it and it is just what dr J said here earlier
So don’t worry it will be fine.
    Love from Ariel #love
