The ‘housing’ meltdown in the US started when it became apparent that the biggest mortgage insurer (MBIA) couldn’t possibly cover its bets. This ultimately sent investors running for the exits, and the entire house of cards, and the economy along with it came crashing down.
Something similar is happening now with insurers underpinning the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). They are literally running for the exits. Whatever happens from here forward is likely not going to be pretty.
Can’t speak for others, but from my perspective and experience you are right on schedule Sven
When the emotional stuff arises as it did for me in the first weeks, its helpful to keep in mind that DAAs are powerful stuff, and this is all part of the experience of becoming well.
Never hurts to step back a bit, and give oneself (and others) a bit of space when one feels the unexpected emotions bubbling to the surface. Easier said than done, I know.
Remember that you can always PM me and others here when it gets a bit much. I will send you a PM now with my email address so that we can stay in contact when not logged in here.
You’re doing great, brother. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other!
Congratulations on SVR Wayne! Time to enjoy your newfound freedom!!!
And the sun rose on a brand new day! Congratulations on SVR 12, Honker!!!
Wanted to say thank you to Beaches, Sven, Dr James, Ariel, and Coral for the tremendous support and well wishes. Without FixHepC and my friends here this would be a very different and much more difficult journey.
The impact of real peer support can’t be quantified in terms of of dollars and cents, but every one of us knows its true and irreplaceable value.
Haven’t been around much the past few days. The thousand things I have wanted and needed to do, but that I had previously put off because I ‘just wasn’t feeling it’, are now receiving more of my attention.
Even when I’m not posting, I am looking in on my friends and reading posts. Love you all
Fitz
Dr Freeman, I have been wondering about the potential for patients who do not achieve SVR to stay on current generation DAAs until newer more effective regimens come along.
If HIV meds can keep the ravages of that virus at bay for HIV patients, would a similar approach for HCV patients be an option?
Hi Sven! Thank you for checking up on me.
So here’s the update. Nose is doing fine. Doc says they got all the BCC with the surgery, and scar tissue has replaced the sort of scary looking incisions. It is actually looking like my own nose again, with a couple of minor ‘battle’ scars from the Mohs surgery. The scarring improves and blends in with time.
Just started my last bottle (28 tabs) of medication, which means I have finished 8 weeks of treatment, and now have just 4 weeks to go. Will go in for labs (bloods) tomorrow morning, which means I will have results on most of the tests by the next day (Thursday), and will receive 8 week Viral Load results early next week. Will post the viral load results when they become available.
Brain fog is completely gone at this point, and the best way I can describe what I am experiencing in terms of mental acuity would be a comparison to someone who’s vision had gradually worsened considerably over time, and suddenly has a brand new pair of glasses, with 20/20 (and sometimes even 20/15) vision. The initial side effects seem to be gone, aside from retaining fluid, which is a minor thing.
So that’s it, Sven. The progress you are making is amazing. I’m very excited about your progress and look forward to seeing your 4 week results when they become available!
Matt-Kenney-google wrote:Ditto on the expressions of appreciation for Dr. J. and the Redemtption 3 trials. But I am a bit confused. I’m guessing, and please pardon me if I miss my guess, or if I seem to be treading on any toes here, but I did not see where Dr. Freeman was dressing you down for your postings here. I guess maybe you got a PM in that regard or just feel obliged to respond as if you maybe should have??? illy:' /> (No answer necessary) It appears to me, he was answering ALL the questions raised here that are currently available to answer in a responsible manner, even revealing his current intentions to do further research.
I appreciate all that everyone, including you, has posted here.
Thanks ALL,MK
Hello Matt!
Dr Freeman has been nothing but supportive. Just incredible really. Can’t say enough about how fantastic the guy is.
My distress was really just about the internal realization I had unwittingly ventured into an area Dr Freeman was quietly and seriously researching.
At the end of the day, I don’t think any harm was done to the research itself – its just that if I were in his shoes, I would probably have preferred that the research had reached its conclusion before it became a matter of discussion on the forum
Thank you Dr James. As always, I am a huge fan of your work as well as being the direct recipient of the benefits of the trails you are blazing with generic DAAs.
Honestly, I was pretty upset when I realized that I had inadvertently tread into an area in which you are personally conducting serious scientific research.
That being said, the treatment I have received through the REDEMPTION 3 Trial has already changed my life for the better in ways I could not even have imagined prior to beginning treatment.
Prior to starting treatment with generic DAAs – through my HCV ravaged thought processes – I knew I needed help. I just didn’t realize how narrow that window actually was, and how fortunate I am to have actually found FixHepC.
Next time my natural curiosity and personal research lead me into a potential treatment area not yet discussed on the forum, I’ll drop you a line before launching a thread on the subject, to be sure.
The news about your research for GT3’s is very exciting!
Thanks once again for giving me my life back, Dr James. I will never forget.
Fitz
I will venture a guess, and would make clear that this is only a guess. Chlorcyclizine is most likely not listed as a Hep C med because it has not yet been proven effective in human trials, and is currently not approved for treatment of Hep C.
There is at least one human study currently underway: https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02118012
Outstanding results, Sven! Two weeks!!! Just WOW!
Your generic DAAs are kicking the snot out of HCV, and LFTs are well within the normal Range.
Glucose is a little high (a touch out of the normal range), but I’m sure someone will be along shortly with some tips on getting that down.
Great job, brother!
This is really distressing news, RHF. Your efforts in getting the word out are so important, and now even more so.
Fie ca Dumnezeu să binecuvânteze eforturile tale!
I second Beaches’ and Ariel’s sentiments, Jean Marc. We’re all here in your corner!
Meg wrote:Hi everyone. From what I have observed and known of you guys – we are pretty much free and independent thinkers (kind of rebels actually ) who do our own research and go after solutions and answers to challenges (such as relapses), differently than most of the population who waits – sometimes in vain – for a miracle to descend upon us. We all “have been around” and as grown ups with plenty of life experience I am sure we would not follow any a ” tip” without a thorough analysis, research and talking to our doctors first. Having said that I see no danger in us discussing the benefits of adding Chlorcyclilzine in our regimen, specially as someone else has mentioned even Dr James Freeman thought about it already. It might be that it will indeed give a hand to the DAAs by stopping the Hep C virus to re-enter the cells and increasing our chances to SVR. So if you Fitz want to be the “guinea pig” illy:' /> in this experiment, you have all it takes to. I trust your discernment!
Thanks Meg (you’re so awesome!) While I would like to enhance my chances for SVR, I am not so intrepid as to not consult Dr James first, before making any changes to my treatment regimen.
He’s been sort of busy lately, and I’m not in any hurry – so will give him a chance to settle back in after his ground breaking journey to Bangladesh.
