Hey Fitz – I hope your journey continues smooth with few side effects. Its good that they caught the Mel before it dug it’s heals in, the scar will heal and plastic surgeons are incredible in making it disappear. That being said and by the it looks you may not need it! They did a great job stitching it back initially.
Thanks for all your positive posts you make a difficult journey seem like a walk in the park.
    Talk soon brother.

Gaj as a fairly new member here I have read many journeys, all are done with inspiration, determination and with a positive mindset that only those whom have this disease truly know. I applaud your journey as you will not let getting kicked off the bucking bronco stop you from your determined goal, SVR. Yes it is a frign bad deal, to say the least, when your SVR went south but from reading your posts you will not be denied. The Sof/Vel treatment looks extremely good in trials, you are here with the people who know you and support you and you have the best team with Dr James, MonkMed and GP2U….. you’ll make SVR. As one me,bet told me the other day, something I have not heard in a long long time, “we’ve got your back”! You will succeed because we won’t let you leave here without SVR!
    In good health my friend.

    Journey continues:
2nd dose this AM with an increase in BP but it subsided a few hours later, I think it was the anticipation of it all. It is surreal that I am even doing this GP2U trial as it has been so long coming!
I will not post anything on this until next week or if anything special happens.
    Thx again to all.

    Thanks GT2.
Yes the Viking heritage runs strong through my Swedish veins, and I look to Thor the God of Thunder, he was Odin’s son and was my Dad’s name as well, he will help me slay the proverbial dragon HCV.
After my coffee I will throw down the second dose and continue to take charge of this beast.
BTW, I totally agree with your assessment that persistence and desire/determination alone are omnipotent. I was taught that many years ago and it still holds true today.
In good health to you my friend.

    Hi Fitz
Well I have my blood draw tomorrow morning and I take my first med right after! I am so stoked, nervous at hand same time it unreal.
Is there any final things you can suggest:
    1) lots of water ( how much is lots?)
    2) exercise
    3) no herbal supplements what so ever
    4) take it at same time everyday

    And?

Thank you Fitz, I appreciate anything pre dosing you can give me. Also any sides that I might want to be aware of etc..
    Thanks man.

Wow I am not surprised, but then again I was. It was involved in the lives from my 3 brothers with the last one dying after icites, then liver cancer at the end. Just a terrible death. I will do what ever I can to promote the generics, it is astonishing the volume of people whom have it and the people who can cure it are so far away from each other.

I was in the gilead support path and under the $100k threshold of income, after and during getting turned down by my insurance company. However they would only allow me 1 month assistance with the balance of over $50k out of my pocket. We applied to gilead 3 times and each time it was rejected. If you are working and not totally indignant they want your money, and a lot of it. The final time was their last time and they came back with this…. I only needed 8 weeks due to my viral level, but their assistance was then only going to be 20 days, leaving me with over $35k in debt. My doctor said no as he believes I needed 12 weeks and he said if you do it with them and your not UND after 8 weeks you’ll be stuck with an extra $28k which would put me at over $55 k again. They knew what they were doing.
I think you hit a good day as most are turned down. Also after my doctor read the GP2U trials and concise information, he said ” go for it”. I did and received my medication today!!’
So good luck and your wish was granted but to most people it would be denied 100% unless you have money to spend. Gilead is not a stupid company, justI incompassionate and extremely greedy.
    In good health to you.

I am not a writer so I hope this comes accross in good light.
Dr James your decision to help is monumental, for a generation of people. It is people like you, who are very few and far between, who have the have the ability to change how things are done. You are changing how the world treats a very serious disease, you are a person who cuts his own path in life and leaves a trail for others to follow. You are one of very few that does not have the “gonna, shoulda or woulda” slang in their vocabulary… you just do it. You did it at a time when everyone else was afraid to challenge Big Pharma, I thank you for that so much you’ll never really know how it has affected mine and every other persons psyche who has the possibility to change their life because of you and the team you put to gether. Yes it takes a village to do this but it all had to start with a person like you, a man who chiseled his life out of his beliefs, that is rare and I am do glad I had the opportunity to be around you when you did it!
Sincerely, thank you for doing it!
