If your VL is <15 that means it's unquantifiable which means there is some virus there but the amounts are too small to count. Call me Captain Obvious
This is Good News especially if your liver functions are normal, which they are.
Why did he say UND? I don't know. Maybe he is anticipating the EOT result. You are on track my brother.

Cured baby18 September 2016 at 12:12 pm #23102Hi Sven,
15 iu/ml is the limit that the quantitative test assay the lab used can accurately record rather than necessarily being your result. The printout you have shown us looks like the report from your doctor’s surgery which sometimes only reports the <15 number rather than the full lab report indicating detected or undetected. So he is the best person to ask which it is.
There are quite a few posts on the subject in the below section of the forum.

18 September 2016 at 2:27 pm #23106Hi Sven,
I agree with Gaj and the others. It looks like your results just show the quantative test.
Ask your doc about the qualitative results.
Your looking good at any rate.

7/07/16 UND SVR 2418 September 2016 at 7:19 pm #23110Your physician may have access to deeper report results than are shown on your printout. This was the case with one of my earlier tests.
At 6 weeks my quantitative analysis showed a viral load of <15 with HCV RNA still detected. This didn't mean there was live virus still present, it just meant they could detect pieces of the exploded (dead) replicons.
By 8 weeks HCV RNA was undetected. They couldn't even detect the genetic debris. I suspect this is the case with your results Sven. To ease your mind about this, you can certainly call your specialists office to confirm, and get copies of the full HCV quantitative analysis report, which in my case was separate from the Complete Metabolic Panel report.
Your printout looks like it might be a summary of both reports, but different labs will report results a bit differently, so this is just a guess on my part.
19 September 2016 at 1:26 am #23112Thank you all for the explanation of the read out.
I will connect with them tomorrow and request an explanation of why the words undetectable were used? It is confusing to hear that and then research what the actual <15 means, which is still present but unquantifiable., dead or alive.IMO, a determination should be 100% reflective of the tests being taken rather than conjecture that could be different from doctors office to doctors office. With that being said I could be incorrect there as well.
But, All in all I'm happy with my scores both on liver tests and the <15. I'll relay new information tomorrow afternoon/evening.
In good health to all

Cured!19 September 2016 at 1:33 am #23113Hi m and Sven,
Qualitative tests just give a Detected or Undetected result. On the other hand Sven’s result is definitely quantitative as his report states it as <15. But if it is in the <15 range but detected then it would usually include a statement to that effect per the quote from the Cobas Taqman V2 assay instructions below or alternatively it will state that it is undetected.
Results less than the quantitative range of the assay will be reported
as “HCV RNA detected, less than 15 IU/mL”.Sven’s result only gives <15 without also stating whether detected or undetected so is ambiguous but as Fitz says, Sven's doctor will be able to clarify the correct answer in more detail.

19 September 2016 at 4:25 am #23115Regardless, you are on track, Sven.
Your next result will be UND.
If your liver functions have dropped to the normal range and you are feeling noticeably better, the cure is working
That is probably small consolation to a detail focused individual, but take heart.

Cured baby21 September 2016 at 9:44 am #23176Twice I asked, twice they said undetected . I find it strange, but he said if it was detected it would say <15iu detected. I asked why it doesn't say undetected and he said, isn't that obvious. The conversation was very short, but as cordial as I could be after all the delays. Hey maybe Tim was right....he could have been busy for 3 weeks.
Thank you all, I am very grateful to be defined undetected as less than 3 months ago there was no hope of me getting any medication and my viral load was in the millions!

Cured!21 September 2016 at 11:57 am #23182Over the last 11 months I’ve noticed there really doesn’t seem much consistency in the way different labs and doctors report these results.
But being told “undetected” twice by the doctor is the real deal. Happy for you Sven! Happy for you Sven!
