But being told “undetected” twice by the doctor is the real deal. Happy for you Sven! Happy for you Sven!
To all, first thank you for the huge display of encouragement! Thank you!
I agree with you about testing consistency, its like each has their own way of doing it. On my testing why couldnt they have just said 15iu/ml undetected or UND? Instead they have more patient verbal contact with us asking, what is it? Oh well, Im very happy to be where I am.
I said 3 months ago I thought I was going to go just like all my brothers and really I was resigned to do so. I thought it is what it is and there is nothing I can do. I sure as hell was not going to give GS $100k to do the program! (my wife would need it more down the road if I wasnT here). But now I’m on my way to hopefully SVR , I’ll take those odds any day.

So, the arrogance of power! Glad you persisted and got the answer you were seeking Sven.
BTW – no one told me I could do it, but I called the lab that did my tests and requested they mail the results directly. They did so, and I had them about a week after I had gone in to have blood drawn. A lazy two weeks after that I got a letter from my specialist with the results.
Here’s the upshot, Brother. You are getting well because you had the will to buck the system, and you took the initiative to save your own life.
If there’s a lesson from all this it is that if we wait for the system to save us, odds are that we’ll just get sicker, until we either become so grievously ill that they have to treat, or too sick to treat, period.
If we want to get well, WE must take the initiative, and your story is a testament to that, Sven!
In good health, brother.

I’m 13 days away from EOT and it looks good from this view. The time I’ve had here is A huge milestone in my life, and in my wildest thoughts I had no idea this dude named Mike G would show up at the perfect time and tell me ” you’ll be HCV free by Summer’s end”. I must say he was right on. He had to be sent by Swedish Gods Thor & Odin and they protected his bounty of dragon slaying meds. Well again not really but it’s sounds great. So I am not unhappy, in fact I am very happy to feel the way I do! But why don’t they have consistently in HCV testing? I live not far from a big city and is this test the best they can do? Now I’m not expert but from what I read they use a qualitative test to confirm Zero virus, correct? So are they not telling me the truth?
So wouldn’t I want to continue on with treatment if I was qualitative detected? Maybe someone can chime in here and help me see the light or let me know if I should demand a qualitative test or ?
Thx————————— —————————- —————————- ——————————
Hi
So sorry for the delay in replying to your email.
To explain a little on the HCV PCR quant results. The test is sensitive down to a quantity of 15. This means that if there are less than 15 virus in your blood the test would not be able to detect that. This test is more sensitive than any other test available to us. This means that the results are listed as <15 IU/mL meaning there was no virus detected but they can't rule out the possibility that there may be fewer than 15 virus still there. This is why we wait 3 months after you have completed treatment to check the viral level. If there are any virus still there it will start reproducing as soon as the medication is stopped and by 3 months it will have reproduced enough to be well above 15 and would then be detected by this lab. There is no test available to us that can confirm ZERO virus.

Cured!24 September 2016 at 10:07 am #23249Hi Sven,
as a simple citizen, such answers make me cry.
In the constant concern of modern people to always say “politically corect” things, you get such scientific letters.I would interpret the letter as : you are undetected, but there is a tiny tiny probability some virus might be present, so if you get the same result 12 weeks after EOT, you are cured.
But that’s juet me, Misa no doctor .
Cheers,

My friend those are words to live by. You and all the other people here literally made our own path and left a trail for others to follow. The world is full of people waiting to be told what to do and when to do it, we here at fixHepc are the ones who leave a trail for those who can’t make up their mind.
Thank you for the wise words. In good health to all my friends here at fixHepc.

Cured!26 September 2016 at 8:36 am #23279Hi Sven and Fitz,
This is so true, and not only in the context of our health!
I apply this principle to my career and since my kids have finished school have taken responsibility for my own professional development and paid for my own training rather than wait for the gods above to decide I’m worth spending any of the miniscule training budget on. The ROI is definitely there.
Over the past few months I’m definitely realising the benefits of this strategy as my energy increases, the brain fog diminishes and my mental capacity grows.
The moral of the story? Don’t let other people’s opinions control your life
