Three weeks down, nine to go. I still feel a bit fuzzy in the mornings but generally more clear headed and energetic. I swim 3-4 times a week and have done 600 metres almost non-stop! Previously that would have been a struggle and would need a few rest breaks to swim that far.
Still have that speedy feeling but not quite as intense. Sleep is still less than I’d like, average about 6 hours with intermittent waking some nights but not all. I sometimes try for a siesta but usually doesn’t work. Occasionally I will have 10-15mg oxazepam or a couple of puffs of pot to ensure sleep if I have a big day ahead. Pot is actually better for this as the oxazepam seems to take longer to wake up and clear the brain the next morning.
I’m not noticing much difference in the other symptoms originally posted. Skin is still prickly, seborrheic dermatitis unimproved, although my general mood is better overall. We had another heatwave in Melbourne just before New Year which knocked me around as usual, and I think I slept badly on New Years Eve causing subluxation in my neck but that’s from the osteoarthritis/fibromyalgia which is likely not completely HCV related. And my osteopath is on holiday till next week.TL;DR – Some great improvements but still not 100% healthy.
Looking positively to the future, 4 week blood tests next week..

Melbourne, Australia7 January 2016 at 6:28 am #8221Hi Sonix,
Great to hear you are noting some improvements.
Your comments about the heat are interesting, I noticed I handled it a lot better than I had pretreatment. Still bloody hot but I wasn’t struggling like I have for the last couple of years. Although I am 4 weeks further into treatment than you.
Best wishes for your 4 week results.

7 January 2016 at 6:41 am #8224On reflection I did seem to handle the heat better. I was out playing Ingress in 39C one afternoon! Wouldn’t have considered that last summer. It was mainly in the car with the aircon running (struggling more like) at max.

Interesting point you and GAJ make about hot weather; I’ve always been fairly intolerant of it (thx to my Scot/Brit forebears maybe lol) but its been a real struggle the last few years. Never considered the possibility it could be hep-related so your experiences are intriguing on that point.

8 January 2016 at 1:22 pm #8367seborrheic dermatitis unimproved,
Try this:
Substitute soap for Ego bath oil to wash your face. Mix about a capful with hot water in shower. It will go white. Use that to wash and rinse well.
Use Ego Dermaid 0.5% cream in the morning – the purple gel not the pink Cream.
Use canestan cream at night – a yeast called Pityrosporum ovale exacerbates it and this will kill it off over a few weeks

Thank-you Tim, Dr Debasis @ MonkMed & Dr Freeman @ Fix HepC5 February 2016 at 4:11 am #11207A quick update. I got 4 week blood results –
VL DET <15 down from 223,000
ALT 22 (<45) down from 54
AST 22 (<35) down from 42
Platelets 123 (150-450) down from 157
All other tests in range. So looking pretty good and promising. I had another qualitative VL test this week at 6.5 weeks so hopefully und.
Side effects have abated so I no longer feel speedy but generally a bit less fatigued. Sleeping better too. I have had attacks of the lazies and had a few siestas.
Some of the symptoms have abated too, less itchy, a bit more clear-headed and less muscle pain. Not profound changes but noticeable.
It's good reading of everyone's successes here and hopefully I'm close too.

Melbourne, Australia24 February 2016 at 3:57 am #125436.5 week blood results – undetected! Thanks Hieu for the phone call last Friday.
I’m still feeling a fatigued (or lazy?) but find if I have to do something, I just need to start doing it and the energy comes somehow.
I work part time at one of Melbourne’s premier music venues, setting up and operating sound and lighting. I had a little break for 6 weeks and did my first show back with Albert Hammond from The Strokes a couple days ago. It was a warm humid day and I had excessive sweating most of the time, but drank lots of water and a little soft drink and managed to keep up despite being crazy hectic most of the night with 3 bands on 2 stages all needing me to help.
The sides are manageable although I attribute some of the sweating to Tx. I was speaking to a friend who is doing 24 weeks sof/dac and he mentioned feeling “toxic”. This is something I haven’t seen mentioned here before but I know what he means as I feel the same.
Just over 2 weeks to go and hopeful the remaining sides will abate after EOT.
To infinity and beyond!

Melbourne, Australia24 February 2016 at 4:01 am #12544Right on. I hope my next one is ‘UND”.
I’m a sound engineer, too. I worked in a studio as a recording engineer recording and mixing bands’ albums. $10/hr. It’s a ‘glamour job’. Lol.
I ended up doing my own album, then got a real job.

Quietly celebrating with a little cab merlot and watching Grateful Dead videos. This one gives me a warm fuzzy glow inside every time I hear it –
As I was walkin’ ’round Grosvenor Square
Not a chill to the winter but a nip to the air,
From the other direction, she was calling my eye,
It could be an illusion, but I might as well try, might as well try.She had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes.
And I knew without askin’ she was into the blues.
She wore scarlet begonias tucked into her curls,
I knew right away she was not like other girls, other girls. In the heat of the evening when the dealing got rough,
She was too pat to open and too cool to bluff.
As I picked up my matches and was closing the door,
I had one of those flashes I’d been there before, been there before.Well, I ain’t often right but I’ve never been wrong.
Seldom turns out the way it does in a song.
Once in a while you get shown the light
In the strangest of places if you look at it right.Well there ain’t nothing wrong with the way she moves,
Scarlet begonias or a touch of the blues.
And there’s nothing wrong with the look that’s in her eyes,
I had to learn the hard way to let her pass by, let her pass byThe wind in the willow’s playin’ “Tea for Two”;
The sky was yellow and the sun was blue,
Strangers stoppin’ strangers just to shake their hand,
Everybody’s playin’ in the heart of gold band, heart of gold band.Muchos gracias to Dr James, Hieu ( Cảm ơn nhiều ), Rusty, Kingswood, everyone here at FixHepc and of course Greg Jeffries for blazing the trail to the wild west. To infinity and beyond!
