Just a quick query…..I will be having my SVR12 blood test done at the end of the month however since I have stopped treatment my skin is really dry and itchy (no rash). Has anyone else come across this?

    YMMV

    Hi Lynne,

It’s not something I’ve seen commonly.

    I would suggest:

Replace soap with Ego brand wash

Ego brand bath oil, which despite the name can be used in the shower, just by putting a little in your palm, adding a little water and wiping the resultant mix over your skin. Then give it a gentle rinse off – it’s like an all over moisuturiser

Ego brand Sorbolene cream to problem areas

And no I don’t have shares in Ego but their skincare stuff is the best – no fragrances, inexpensive, and it works. Widely available too.

    YMMV

Why are you having a 12 month blood test?
Once you’re Hep C free that’s it – unless you’re placing yourself in a position to get the viras again
I was told a 12 month blood test was not necessary except to see the state of my liver – nothing to do with Hep C

    Hello Stew-H,
    SVR (Sustained Virological Response)
Treatment success rate is about 90-95% and is measured with SVR. SVR is counted in weeks from the cessation of medication.
SVR24 is the gold standard – zero viral load at 24 weeks post treatment and represents a < 1% chance of ever seeing the virus again. SVR4 represents a 97% chance of making SVR24 (96% chance of cure) SVR12 represents a 99.7% chance of making SVR24 (99% chance of cure) For more information, please check http://fixhepc.com/kunena-2015-11-10/gp-cheat-sheet.html

I’m getting tested 12 weeks post treatment and if I’m clear I believe that’ll be it. Is this not enough? Thanks

12 weeks is all I would have done, but my GI insisted and insurance paid.
    I don’t plan to EVER test again…

My doctor proposed me that even if SVR12 will be reached, I should continue to make every 6 months the usual blood tests and an ecography. I would think that VL will make sense to make only if GPT/GOT will exceed the normal range values

I may have another blood test early next year (just for my own peace of mind) but since my SVR12 I have felt well so I have no reason to doubt that the virus is gone. :)
