    @sonix

Two weeks into Tx, I’ve been meaning to post but finally.

    Pre-Tx symptoms –
    – fatigue and mind fuzz
    – muscle and joint pain (I have osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia, not severe though)
    – prickly skin, also dry and itchy in places
    – temperature sensitivity. Sweats and/or shivers regardless of temperature
    – seborrheic dermatitis
    – depression/anxiety

    Pre-tx pathology –
    – Gt 1a
    – VL 230,000 IU/mL Log10 5.35
    – Fibroscan 7.8kPa F1/2
    – Haematology all normal except for platelets 145 (150-450) was 48 6 months ago when I had dengue fever
    – Chemistry normal except AST 45 (<41) ALT 64 (<51)
    - Endocrinology normal AFP 7 (<9)

Treatment naive, probably had HCV since late 1980s from using naughty drugs.
Started Sof/Dac from Kingswood Compounding Pharmacy on 17/12/2015. Script from Dr James via GP2U.

After 2 weeks Tx I'm feeling vastly more energetic but wired from lack of sleep, about 5 hours per night. I changed from evening dose to after breakfast to try to alleviate this, stay tuned. I definitely have that speedy feeling others have mentioned. No other noticeable side effects. It's been stinky hot in Melbourne for a lot of days since I started so this may have masked some milder sides.
For years I have suffered depression and anxiety but this seems to be abating somewhat now the stigma of having HepC is weighing less on my mind. I took paroxetine for years but went cold turkey (after ramping down) when visiting Vietnam for 3 months in 2008. After a few weeks of mind spins it settled down and started to handle life ok without it. I now believe SSRI was useless or even harmful in my case.

Looking forward to 4 week blood results and feeling very positive about this.
    Onward and upward! :woohoo: B)

Hi Sonic I live in Bendigo and can relate to the hot weather Phewww

I am in week seven on Sof/Led and also have the insomnia and still do but sleeping a bit longer than when I first started. I take my meds at around 8.30pm and find now that I am not tired in the mornings when I get up (work full time) and energy levels improving also. I turned 60 this year and have no idea when, where or how long I have had the virus but I am forever grateful for Dr Freeman and the Buyers Club for the opportunity to be able to take my meds now rather than waiting for an appt at the Liver Clinic at the Base Hospital here (10 months and counting so far)! My four week blood tests came back HCV undetectable :)

Have a great New Year and I look forward to hearing your results.

    Cheers Lynne

Partly because of the $700 price difference, but confirmed by Dr James that Sof/Dac should be at least as effective as Sof/Led, and possibly better but trials have been small so far.
And yes, you need a script.

    Happy New Year to all!

Hey sonix, good to hear your story and great news that you’re handling tx so well and seeing those improvements. I’m also 1a (27 yrs) and have had all those hep symptoms, complicated by hormonal problems and chronic pain (plus recently an at least semi-failed shoulder op) Awesome that so many have been relieved for you.

I will be on sof/dac as well from tomorrow, Dr J’s rationale was the same he as advised you – could well be better than Led due to a slightly higher logkill ratio (albeit small trial sample as you say)

All the best for the rest of your treatment, and wishing everyone here a great start to a healthy new year. We couldn’t have been given a better chance :)
