    Hey Splitdog,
I’m considering the same route…saw a dr today who says he has not seen any of his patients with insurance get approved for sof/Dac. Even on appeal. He said he’d support me (with lab orders & a script) if I got the meds some other way. He also asked what my Rush was given the long wait so far. He said there are more new meds in the pipeline. But, I’m thinking of pulling the trigger as soon as I get the Fibrosure results. Really want to get this done. Thanks for sharing your story.

    Thank you sabrecat.

And you, too MtGoat. Today I saw my Dr and informed him of my plans. He saw the meds and I told him about this site and Kingswood Pharmacy. He got all excited and thanked ME! He had his nurse come in and draw the blood themselves for a baseline today. I have an appt in 3 weeks for another LFT, VL, etc. Then, off for breakfast and I popped those little friends for the first time! After an hour, I felt 3 big twinges in my liver. Then it went away. Then I felt a little buzzed or something for about 5 minutes, then it all went away. I relaxed at the beach all day. Contemplating and reflecting………;)

I go to the Liver clinic at Nepean Hospital which is just around the corner from Kingswood pharmacy. When I picked up my generic Harvoni the pharmacist told me he was doing more business from overseas clients than locals. I think I maybe 1 of a few who go to the clinic that purchased meds from the pharmacy. The Liver clinic never told me about the pharmacy even tho they had a couple of people on their books who bought generic harvoni. All they wanted was for me to use Interferon, Ribavirin and Boceprevir. When I refused they said if I was prepared to wait, orals may become available some time in the future.
When my cirrhosis became worst I decided to check out a guy – Greg Jeffreys – who went to India to purchase orals. It was just by chance I came across his story or I would still be sitting at home waiting for orals from the liver clinic.

    Hi Splitdog,

    Great to hear that:

A.) You have commenced treatment, best wishes for your journey and SVR to you!

B.) Your doctor is supportive and is keen to learn from your experience. Hopefully it will give him the confidence to recommend generics to others, be they patients or colleagues.

And Sabrecat, congratulations on your UND! :)

Hi Stew-H, that is just totally f’d up that there you were, sitting a few blocks away from Kingswood where you could just walk over and get your meds, and those turds didn’t tell you about the option….meanwhile, I probably drove past your house after flying half around the world so I could walk into Kwood and get my medicine (this was before the shipping to US was as smooth as it seems to be now).

I might well have driven past your house cause I made a few wrong turns as a result of having to drive on the “wrong” side of the street with a car with the steering wheel on the “wrong” side. Those wrong sided roundabouts were the worst!

I bought sofosbuvir and daclatasvir for my 2B at Kingswood and was UND at 4 weeks and just recently again at 8 weeks, rest of stuff looks pretty good too.

    Best of luck to you!

GT 2b; since 80’s, no prior tx, sofosbuvir and daclatasvir compounded from API’s at Kingswood Pharmacy in Sydney, started tx nov 6,2015, undetected at 4 wks, UND at 8 weeks, UND at 1 week after EOT, UND at 4 weeks after EOT and UND at 8 weeks after EOT. I feel GOOD!! I knew that I WOULD!””

    Hi 2b and Stew,

While we talk about Australians being lucky, and we are as far as Dr James, Greg and the compounding chemists go, to some extent I believe most of us have still had to make our own luck.
I know in my case, my specialist didn’t mention anything about generics until I asked……then he wrote me a script. But I suspect that if I hadn’t been pointed to Greg and Dr James by my sister reading an article in the weekend press I would have continued to be warehoused. My reading of posts around here is that very few of us have had our doctors actually recommend generic treatment and that we have needed to be proactive about discovering this option and in many cases have needed to consult with someone like GP2U to get scripts.

I’m in the US with approximately the same situation as Splitdog. Tonight I emailed fixhepc to ask if I could follow suit. But the person who wrote back said I would have to go through the redemption 2 trial. I’m wondering why I can’t do exactly what you guys did. My doc will write the scrip & I just want to buy the stuff through Kingwood. Any insight would be appreciated.

    Cheers

Call Kingswood right now (they’re open) and see if they’ll accept a US prescription. Reply back with the outcome.

    Hello MtGoat,

You can see any GP online at https://gp2u.com.au/ and get a script that you can use at Kingswood.
