Welcome Grateful 1, the comments here are bang on regarding regarding the journey your on. In my case it was quite an interesting trip without many side effects.
Most people seem to go complete treatment without too many issues a common one is the emotional roller coaster Coral and Hazel alluded to and insomnia.
I found taking the meds in the morning worked best for me and drinking extra water also helps the side effects a bit .

Nicotine Replacement Therapy worked for the smokes.

    Enjoy the trip.

    cheers

I am 55 years old and got infected with Hep C when I was about 27 and diagnosed around 32-34. I have spent most of my adult life living with this disease so to now have some issues is quite understandable. Those of us who have recovered from addiction will probably handle this one day at a time like addiction recovery, the others maybe differently.

Like in addiction recovery there are essentially 3 elements to address, Mental, Physical and Spiritual and it’s not going to happen overnight. In my case I intend to give it time and not beat myself up.

    Cheers

I was the same and knew it was going to be negative at SVR 12 as I felt too good for it not to be.

The text from the Doc said The fat lady is singing …. and so it is SVR 12 B)

This has been quite a ride over the last 16 or so months but in reality it started much earlier with my first quest for treatment in about 1997.

Dr Freeman , Fixhepc, this forum and some facebook members have made this final phase much easier to deal with.

James stuck his neck out for us as a group early on with the import assistance of generics it probably gave him a few sleepless nights given whats at stake. For that I thank him from all of his Heppers.

    cheers

Interesting but it looks to me that the level of deaths reported were less than 0.1% and given that a lot of Hep C patients would have been cirrhotic and elderly those deaths could have been caused by anything. Attributing them to the Hep C meds is a stretch IMHO.

Congrats Paul ,I had svr at 4 weeks then again at 12 you’ve fought hard as I did and I really hope it’s a win for you this time,I still get a small amount of pain in the liver area but James says this could be something else I certainly hope so hopefully every body on here can reach that awesome feeling of knowing it’s gone

Thanks mate and yes my liver still feels a bit dodgy which is caused by fatty liver I believe, now the plan is to lose weight and try and sort that problem out. I don’t think pills will sort that out :)

Welcome Carolyn hope your treatment works out for you as it has for many others, as for side effects how long is a piece of string ?

People vary with their side effects whilst some have a rough ride others sail through without any ill effects. Dehydration was a big one for me and probably along with insomnia one of the more common side effects. Extra fluids helped a lot with me and also for many others. As for depression not sure what is causing that but we are going through a pretty big change killing of billions of viral cells which may be impacting you.

I have no idea about the indigestion as it wasn’t an issue for me maybe some one else will chime in here.

    Enjoy the ride.

    Cheers

Not officially cured as such but James informed me during the week that we had SVR 4 which is well on the way to cured. This is great news for me after having the virus for about 28 years and 3 goes at treatment. It seems that us GT’3’s need on average longer tx times.

    cheers
