Sure Jolie it has given us treatment power, but these drugs do need expert advice. Please don’t do any drug combinations without expert advice. Drugs interact with each other. You could end up with organ failure if not following the experts. We do this is cause the drugs are far too expensive not the drug combinations are wrong. I am a 3 non responder with cirrhosis, a hard to treat category, even though desperate to clear this virus, I wouldn’t mix medicines. kindly
13 November 2015 at 3:12 am #3790Please don’t worry, I won’t be mixing anything myself. Said that the med I have in mind is already approved with combination of Sofo it,s called Velpatasvir. The trials have been all already completed, best so far tx for Geno 3,
I already suggested it to Doc James as possible Redemption 4′
Geno 3, Fibro 8.7 pKA, tx experinced in 2005 – Peg/Riba, relapsed.
Started tx 1/12/2015 with Indian Sofo & Chinese Dac.
5 weeks result all normal, ALT 18 – down from ALT 73 at the start of tx.
5 weeks HCV PCR RNA – UND. – down from 2 ML
9 weeks HCV PCR RNA – UND.13 November 2015 at 3:23 am #3793ok i have my eye on velpatasvir if the stuff i am taking doesn’t work. i would try and persuade greg or the doc to source a decent , reputable supplier. kindly
13 November 2015 at 3:23 am #3794No you can’t get Semiprivir separately. My gastroenterologist was initially open to the idea of prescribing it for use with Sof if I couldn’t get anything else and chucking away the interferon as it would still be saving the government money. But on reflection, he had concerns it might be considered fraud and then the comp access dac was available so it was a moot point. I was talking to someone from Hep NSW the other day and told them they should lobby for Semiprivir to be listed separately as it could be helpful in some hard to treat cases. Doubt they’ll do anything about it though.
13 November 2015 at 3:29 am #3795I remember reading on Greg’s blog that Semiprevir is available on it’s own, from the chemist with a script from your doctor. So I dug it out, under Sept. 3:://hepatitisctreatment.homestead.com/hepatitis-c-treatment.html
Perhaps the good doctor could clarify.
13 November 2015 at 3:59 am #3798I thought velpatasvir is the GS 5816 drug that has been trialed recently. All these “svir’s” getting me confused.

Click on authority required. James has previously said he can’t prescribe it. Think he said that only 2 docs in Tassie could one of whom is my gastroenterologist at RHH liver clinic. If you look at the PBS entry including the “Note” section you’ll see there’s all sorts of hoops to jump through in regard to the prescribing of it.
God I am so effing sick of typing with one finger on my left hand.
13 November 2015 at 4:39 am #3804What happened? Shouldn’t the cast be off soon? Did they do surgery?
13 November 2015 at 4:40 am #3805Sorry all, I stand corrected. Didn’t realise you were still in plaster Chester. Good job!
13 November 2015 at 4:44 am #3807Hmmm very restrictive criteria Chester. And it must only be prescribed with Intf & Riba on the PBS – not helpful
Hang in there em, I’m sure there’s a combo out there which will work. Lots of knowlegable people on here all looking our for you.

Comes off Tuesday thank god. I can use it for a lot of things but the cast won’t let my wrist flex so still not much good for typing.
13 November 2015 at 4:50 am #3809sorry about the difficulty but its for genotype 1. The GS 5816 is genotype 3, whatever kind of “svir” it is. kindly

Good to hear you’re on the mend mate…once the cast is off you should improve. I had shoulder surgery 3 months ago but unfortunately have nerve issues now, looking at MRI/nerve conduction tests in Dec

13 November 2015 at 5:17 am #3814Thanks, my current treatment is for 24 weeks. By the way I have been really struggling physically with this treatment. Couldn’t exercise as usual, nanny naps, particularly after eating so tired I had to sleep. Now at the 8 week mark. Complete change. Very strange. kindly
