    Hi folks!

When i get my hands on Sof+Dac i will post detailed info (blood charts) of progress. My plan is to do PCR @ pre tx, 4w, eot, eot+12w, eot+48w. Liver enzymes (ALT/AST) @ pre tx, 2w, 4w, 8w, 12w, eot, eot+12w,eot+24w, eot+48w. Since i am not insured, it will be a bit stretch on the budget, so i might reduce number of PCR tests to 4w, eot+12w, eot+48w. Regarding supplements, probably nothing. Maybe vitamin D and fish oil. Regarding diet, i will most likely go with same one as i when i was on Peg+Riba. No fatty foods (pork/lamb), from meat mostly turkey/fish/chicken/veal, no sodas, steamed veggies as much as possible, lots of green tea (which i drink anyways), no spices except ginger and turmeric. Thats the plan :)

I had really bad permanent damage from PegIntron (damaged left ear, severe tinnitus), so i do not intend ever in my life to repeat interferon based tx. Was pretty ok with tolerating Riba tho. From what i heard from people that went on Sof+Dac clinical trials, which were long time ago while Gilead and BMS were cooperating, sx were negligible and all got cured.

glad to see you all doing good on Sof+Dac!

    Hi Zlickster,
I take fish oil, but not at the same time as meds because it may interact with the absorbtion. I take Dac/Dof first thing in the morning with planty of water and the fish oil sometime in the afternoon.
With regards to checking your bloods I think 2nd and 4th weeks are important to see how well your are responding to the treatment and after that if everything is fine and you get negative result you should maintain your SVR until at least the end of the treatment.

    Heyo ;)

while i was on Peg+Riba i was pretty much avoiding supplements, since my doc said to save supplements when things go bad (wbc n rbc count), but supplements (Vit D, Vit b12 injections, etc) did not help at all when things indeed got really bad (neutrophiles as low as 0.5!). Only Neupogen helped. As for fish oil i was taking it with Riba, since Riba was supposed to absorb better with fatty/oily stuff. For Sof+Dac i will ingest em just with water. Will check with my doc re fish oil n vitamin d as supplements during tx, but i bet she will say it’s money waste or in best case calming placebo fx ;)

Re blood checks, liver enzymes are pretty cheap here to check maybe 15-20EUR per test, while PCR can be 70-150EUR. Will check with my doc, last time she didn’t want me to do much PCRs, so i had to do it on my own (w4 n w8).

will keep you posted, i just have to wait until december when my friend gets back from Australia and bring me some Dac. Meanwhile i am in processs of getting Sof from India.

    cheers!

Just woke up early start for day 7 and feel fine no sfx at all. I was going to wait until week 4 for first bloods now I think I will get it done after 2 weeks as I am feeling confident that this is working.

    Cheers

    Hi all,
I’m happily into my 7th week of Sof/Dac 12 week cure. It works alright! I’m virus clear and kicking.
The past week though, I have often been woken by a little dull ache in my liver area. I don’t feel sick or nauseous but it’s enough to wake me and keep me awake for a while. I wonder what it is?
A hippies guess tells me it’s; my body reminding me to keep on taking care of my liver even after being cured.

Awesome news vicki – fantastic that you have cleared the virus after only 7 weeks! It gives hope to us all :)

No idea how I missed this thread until now lol

Great to hear everyone’s stories and experiences, am keeping my fingers well crossed for you all. Good to hear those who felt rough initially are improving, and high five to those with minimal side effects – great stuff :)

Hopefully I will be able to start treatment when the meds arrive (3-4 wks) but not sure atm. I have developed a large thyroid nodule within a 24-hr period which making me feel a bit under the weather (though I now have a bit of a husky baritone!) and I don’t know yet if surgery is indicated…the public hospital system moves in its own special timezone heh.

If I can’t, its going to be awkward having bottles of meds burning a hole in my medicine cabinet, so to speak

Hi Vicki, great to hear how you are doing. Yes I had that bad taste as well, I take mine after dinner so I dont have to have nausea if it shows, so far so good. I also am not taking any thing else (except for some iron I take in the morning) and have found vegan type food the best for me (I am not normally a vegan) it just feels cleaner and no digestive symptoms.
Did you read the Daclat drug insert that James put up on the site? It states that if you take it close to a high fat/High carb meal (I think) you can reduce the absorption rate quite significantly. That is why I take it just before going to bed with a piece of vegetable or fruit etc to allay the bad taste.
Really look forward to your progress so keep us posted ok!

Can you show me where Dr. James insert is about not taking Daclat close to a fatty or high carb meal? I was doing just that very wrong thing and would like to see the actual post for any more info. How “close” in timing is it safe or not safe, if anyone knows more?

    Thanks,
    Arthur

I’m into my third week and I’ve had zero side effects.

I was at the lover clinic last week with a view to going back in a month having had my
    bloods taken at week four.

I may have bloods done at the end of this week( Week 3)

    So far so good.

Good stuff Sirchinenge it seems to me that many people have zero side effects at all but the ones that do still don’t do it too tough. Well not in comparison to the old treatment and considering the sickness we have lived with for years.

    cheers

working on my 10th day, so far nothing, just wide awake when i wake up and some really bizarre dreams that seem to reach deep into really old molecular memories for material–not like anything I’ve had before, weird. But physically, nothing, I feel fine.

The bizarre dreams seems like something which can happen with other meds (anti-cancer chemo to my knowledge) but as you say Paul compared to the old horror-treatments it seems very manageable. Sleeping problems I have anyway due to nerve-pain issues so nothing different on that score :) I’m developing quite a sense of anticipation, maybe only a couple of weeks off now, all being good to start.

Anybody else having sleep issues and maybe using any medication to help sleep? I’m on day 14, and now its like clockwork that when I fall asleep, I will wake up almost exactly 3 hours later, and be wide awake. It doesn’t matter when I fall asleep, whenever it is, 3 hours later, BOOM, like an alarm clock went off. then it will take me another 3 or 4 hours to fall back asleep and by then its time to get up and go to work, so its an issue.

Not an issue that I wont gladly be happy to have to get rid of this, but I’m thinking maybe I need something to keep me sleeping past that 3 hour mark.

I can’t take ambien or any kind of hypnotic sleep med because I get up and walk around in my sleep with those things, dangerously so. Other than the 3 hour sleep cycle and some weird and intense dreams, I got nuthin to complain about so far as side effects.

I take the odd Ambien to get to sleep but that only because I do shifts and can’t afford to be fatigued. I don’t have an answer for the lack of sleep except maybe just don’t worry about it and when you wake up get up. My wife is a poor sleeper but she makes it worse I believe by being anxious about it.

I had the same thing …. short sleep and then wide awake. It lasted for maybe 10-12 days. I’m getting longer sleep now but still wake up much clearer than before treatment.
