Do ya’ll over in West OZ say “ya’ll” too? There are several different forms of ya’ll over here in the states. First off, “Ya’ll” is a southern thing. Just so ya’ll know.
Yankees (mostly anyone who doesn’t come from the south, or who we don’t know) don’t ever say ya’ll. If a yankee does say ya’ll, they’re not fooling us. We still know they’re a yankee.
There are different forms of ya’ll. There’s the old south, polite “You All”. Then there’s just “Ya’ll” … a contraction of “You All”. Then there’s “All Ya’ll”. When someone says “All Ya’ll”, they’re usually referring to Yankees. Like “Where’d all ya’ll come from?” But it can be used in a positive way as well like, “All ya’ll come on over to the barbecue, Sunday.”
Oh, and if someone uses “ya’ll”, whatever you do, don’t refer to them as a ‘yankee’ or a ‘yank’ . Trust me on this.
19 June 2016 at 2:57 am #19466Thanks Fitz
I liked getting the low down on this expression
I’m using surfspeak picked up in HI
My location is Victoria on the coast, we have awesome waves, think Bells Beach.
West Oz has some unridden virgin waves it’s a mecca for soul surfers.
So…. My using y’all is just my own slang, it’s stuck like the wax on my board. We have freezing great waves here today clean as a whistle and pumping. Water temp around 12 Celsius air about 10 brrr. Rubber seal suit weather.

We could be here for a long time going through Aussie slang, which doesn’t differ too much from the east coast to the west coast. Ariel lives roughly 1,700 miles away from where I am in the West, so here’s another great West Aussie Band … with 1,000 miles away.

It’s rooted mate. It’s dead as a dingo’s donger. Fair dinkum mate, it’s cactus. It’s a piece of piss to fix. She’ll be right mate. I’ve got a ridgy-didge one for ya at mate’s rates. It’ll cost you a slab.
Jacko
Pig’s arse mate. If I give ya a slab, you’ll be off quicker than a bride’s nighty.
Davo
Don’t crack a fat & carry on like a cut snake. Fair suck of the sav, I’m not as dodgy as dunny rat. It’s not worth a zack to me, so it’s yours for nuddy.
